I ditched the back seat in my 2024 2 door Sport S and used the mounts to secure a cheap 39" locking toolbox from Amazon. The box is not good, but it's getting the job done. I had to cut holes in the bottom of the box to mate up with the seat brackets. I still have space behind the front seats for hanging things and over 2' of floor space behind the box. I may eventually mount a metal basket to the lid that they make for ATVs so I'll have an easy place to throw things I want to easily reach from the front seat.

Do you have the amazon link please...
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CP5LM7ZD?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
It's not a super well-made box. Anyone with just a claw hammer can get into it. But, it locks and it keeps things out of site.

The soft aluminum is also easy to work with using simple tools, so getting it to accept your seat mounting brackets can be done pretty easily with a drill and a file.

I'm going to make a few more modifications to it soon. I'll be sure to post pictures.

If you go this way, please post pictures as well!

Will do. Not so worried about security. Would use it to store and organize all those things that I rarely use but when I do use really need if that makes sense. Recovery gear for example..

Added a flashlight holder and some mesh pockets to stash things I don't care to put inside the box. I painted the lock black, too.

Built a "bench seat" for the top of the lockable storage box project. $14 worth of vinyl and batting, some nails and screws and scrap 1" plywood and we're in business. It isn't in the right place to function as a bench seat, but it'll protect anything delicate I throw in the back from getting beaten up by the metal box and visa versa.

Not even thinking about placement, but is it short enough to sit on? The rear seat isn't that tall…

No, it's not for sitting. As I said just above, "It isn't in the right place to function as a bench seat, but it'll protect anything delicate I throw in the back from getting beaten up by the metal box and visa versa." It's just built like a bench seat in terms of construction, but not function.

Yes, which is why I quoted and talked about placement. But mentioning “it isn’t in the right place to function as a bench seat” indicates “in a different position, I would have a functioning bench seat.” I was curious if that was true, as it seems too tall. But I think you answered my question.

Oh, I see. Yes, It's too tall. It's 10" before the latest mod to it, adding about 2" more.

If memory serves, the seat lock down rings are recessed into bottom of the cargo area. So, the holes in bottom of the tool box are probably to access the rings.

I would (will) likely use either J-hooks like these.
or
U-bolts like these. And drill one, or two holes for each lock down.

Installation of either J's or U's would be a bit tricky, but doable.

Actually, in thinking about it, I will likely cut holes the size of the recessed pockets and add plates, larger than the cut outs, with the U-bolt holes, making installation less complicated.

The question then becomes - access the tool box from the front or the back (OP accessed from front). Both have disadvantages, especially with a soft top.

Oops, the seat rear lock downs are recessed, the front rings (two each side) are raised. The front rings may, or may not be tall enough for padlock(s).
