I figured I'd share the locking storage solution I came up with for my 2019 JLU in case it helps someone else. I don't live in a high crime area but like to go naked as much as possible, so was looking for something to secure my rain gear cover and a backpack. All the commercial security decks (Tuffy, Hooke Road, Insta Trunk, DV8) were expensive, hard to remove if you need more space or can't stay on with hardtop. I had the following goals:

1. Locking storage that fits rain gear cover + backpack
2. No interference with hard or softop
3. Still able to use underfloor storage compartment
4. Still able to store softop window bag behind rear seat
5. Removeable fairly quickly

I ended up with a 36"x15"x14" aluminum toolbox from Amazon. It's Chinese but looks pretty good and was only $155. I welded up 2 brackets that pick up 2 of the cargo tie down bolts and place the box 2" from the back seat at the same angle. I had to remove the chains that hold the door open at 90 degrees because they rattled like crazy, but other than that real happy. It is secure, silent,

Looks great! Is it secured to the tie down loops?
Yes, bolted to the two forward most tie down loops using the same bolts (longer ones not required). I did have to put spacers in the recessed cavity around the bolt hole to make it tighten up securely.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but you had the rear seat laying flat to access the bolt?

Yes, need to fold rear seat to access. I realize this means someone else could fold the seat, remove 2 bolts and steal the whole thing but I do not live in a high crime area so figure a deterrent is all I needed. If someone needs a true lock they could probably come up with a pin of some sort that threads into floor but has a lock, or maybe a locking plate on the bracket that has to be removed to get to the bolt.

No criticism here, just trying to understand. I like your design.

If somebody really wants our stuff, nothing will stop them. I know of several Jeep owners that don't lock their doors when using a soft top. Criminals will just as soon cut the top instead of forcing a door open.
