Has anyone noticed a problem with the charging system? My volts read 14.6 for the first 8k miles , but lately it's read 14.5, 14.4, and 14.3 at various times. I'm not using my off road lights or taxing the system in away.

I thought the same thing about the hard top. I have only ever had a soft top on my jeep previously. But have had times I've wanted a hardtop. I figured it would be easier to order hard top, then go to soft top, verses the other way around.

Ordered March 14, got it July 14. Pretty fast for first run, others waited 6+ months.
I have an ocean blue rubicon, black hardtop and black fenders, auto. Cloth seats (I have seat covers now), safety, LED lights, tow package, cold weather package. I can’t remember anything else. I did not get the infotainment, too high tech for me.
I agree with you on the hardtop. Need all the hookups from factory.

interesting read, I have the ess disabled it's never dropped into the 12's, .Of course i would expect some fluctuation in the volts from any car, but when it has read the same number for 6 months straight , and all of a sudden starts fluctuating just seemed strange to me.

Let ESS do it’s thing and watch voltage. It’ll drop to ~12.6. Or, just stick a multimeter on your battery (will show average of two batteries since they’re wired in parallel). The second thread I posted explains how to get individual voltages by removing the ESS battery’s negative wire.

The long and the short of it is that the EVIC is not showing you actual battery voltage when engine is running b/c alternator is active. When ESS kicks in the alternator is off and you get a more accurate picture. Multimeter is the only way to get the true voltages of the two batteries.

I have never seen it not fluxate. It stays in 14s in cold when warming up, otherwise its usually somewhere between 13 and 14.

when i say it wasn't fluctuating i mean it literally read 14.6 all the time.Never saw it change until a couple of weeks ago. I always leave the volt reader on" i wish the jeep had a dedicated one", big believer in monitoring your charging system, by the time the idiot light comes on there's nothing you can do.

I found the zipper on the big I linked to to be very durable. You must have been really rough on it to get it to fall off.

I always figure the zipper on a bag is something you need to go easy on... anyway, the zipper on mine is doing the deed and has held up well.

Actually the bag came somewhat unstitched on that end and we didn't notice so the zipper just flew right off the end. My Jeep buddy was helping me and we noticed the stitching AFTER the zipper was already off. We tried to put it back on but it didn't want to go. I might horse around with it more at another time. For now it's all folded over and good to go. This was only the third time I've used the bag. Pretty sure I'm not going to sue.

Same here, I put my seat in the bag, zipped it up and haven’t touched it since so mine is holding up fine. Been sitting on a pallet in my basement since August and will probably be there until I sell the Jeep or die

What an idiot I am! Seems I already purchased one in October, that’s why it’s not on my list. It is piled away in a room I use for storage; since I haul around a few folks part of the year, I still have my back seat on for now.
Well, maybe I should look and see if I also ordered the soft top and forgot....

I thought about the bag but then decided to do the MacGyver thing - just put the back seat into two large black garbage bags and duct tape it shut. The seat is now stored under the work bench in the garage.
