Outstanding.....First Jeep? You do know it can be a sickness don't you?
First Jeep indeed! I think someone mentioned that Jeep stands for "Just Empty Every Pocket." I've got about $15k in various online shopping carts waiting for me to win the lottery. For now while on a college student budget I'm going to have to go slowly.

Wow... that is A DEAL!! Congrats! And sorry about your Mercedes. I have Ocean Blue, a thing of beauty!
Thanks! No worries on the Mercedes. If you could see the damage you would be shocked how little can total one of those. Not something I want in my garage if that's the case!

And I guess I should note the deal I got is due to the fact that I work at Mercedes-Benz and went to a sister dealership to utilize my employee discount! I wish I could take the title of master bargainer haha.

i wanted to do the same thing , let me know how much of a pain in the ass it is. Wait the whole dash? or just he bezel?
So I've pulled the panels and sanded the the bezels. I'll be painting after lunch with the family.

Full write up later, but yes, it's a pain in the ass. :whew:

Some notes:

  • Take your time.
  • Battery cables all separated, but power was still on until the two negative cables were separated.
  • Don't nick the plastic while prying the snaps loose because sanding it smooth later is a pain.
  • The SRS cover has unbelievable death grip clips the suicide rather than let you pull them out.
  • Same for the dash cover. Driver's side held so fast I had to rip the plastic from their grasp and then collect them and use a screwdriver to bend them back into shape enough to go back on the clip tabs. OMG
  • Use a fine grit sandpaper and sponge to smooth and ready the surface.
  • Clean up with blasts of air and then a microfiber cloth and alcohol.
  • I used a base coat of white instead of their random orange because it was too bright. Once it dries I'll use Mopar's spray paint "PE4" to color match. I plan to use two light coats of that and then a clear gloss finishing coat.

I know... I totaled my little Mercedes convertible in a flood a few years ago... total loss, broke my heart! That little thing had power! My husband said it was meant to happen, so I won’t die in a crash, speeding around!
