yes there w

yes there were people who had steering component failure , i said that , but thats just a few isolated cases, if many people were having total steering failure , we would have seen a recall by now.
There is one recall out already, likely to be more. You have no idea how isolated it is, cant hand wave away these kinda things. Steering has been an on going issue, from death wobble on old ones to locks ups and wandering all over on new ones.

People driving up in Sierras and other high mountain ranges are not so "oh wellish" about it

Picked my wife's up Friday. Granite with tan interior. Absolutely gorgeous. I'll try and add pics. Checked tire pressure at dealer before leaving. 57 psi. They let air out, I white knuckle drove about 5 miles and pulled over 48 psi. Let air out to 36+\- a drove a few more miles then let more out. Now reading 36 psi for sure and no issues. Over inflated tires on this vehicle can scare ya.

You worry too much and I see no posts on this issue. I'm lucky I guess as
my steering is just fine. Check the recall site I posted and check yours.
Speaking of "yours" what kind of JL did you order ?

Good luck, mine has been in abq 11 days now, on truck but hasn't left. Headed in to my 5th month today
My dealer asked if I want someone to go pick it up, will put 150 miles on it, or check. All this wait, I asked him to find out what timeframe for shipping we are looking at. I would wait if it’s a few days.

Dealer notified me that Jeep is on the truck and is scheduled at dealer either by close of business today or early tomorrow. My mudders will not be at dealership till tomorrow so the timing is looking good for a Thursday or Friday delivery

you mean like https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...e-problem-with-jl-wrangler-please-watch.6723/
or https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/steering-feels-like-it-has-play-and-drifts.3691/

Take a drive up the sierras with steering slop or lockup, and lets talk again, rofl.

Dealer has a 2 door sting gray coming in shortly, will give it a whirl. Its like picking apples, gonna find one thats just right for me, no rush

i'd be ok if someone would give me an answer or state an action they have taken to change things. jeep chat, 866 number, nicole, dealer, and regional rep are all the same. we can't do anything. we can wait, watch status, and notify you when it changes....

my dealer was optimistic today because his status duplicated. Here was the june 25 update:
Truck Load Complete 06/25/18 03:42:00 PM ALBUQUERQUE, NM
Here is the july 2 update
Truck Load Complete 07/02/18 ALBUQUERQUE, NM

he says hey maybe that means its full now..... ai yi yi.... i say hey maybe it means its still in albuquerque 12 days after it got there

And yes, he's still offering to send a driver for me for $400

Why do you want to scare these great people on this thread ? If you would research more
you will find all the issues were dated before the 2dr. build. What you posted is also 4dr.
Please find me a 2dr. that has this problem. And only 540 will be recalled 4dr's.
Note it states: SUV

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 540 model-year 2018 Jeep Wrangler SUVs

The Problem: The intermediate steering shaft may have not been properly welded and may split, causing a loss of steering responsiveness and increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect the intermediate steering shaft and replace, as as necessary, for free.

What Owners Should Do: Jeep parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will begin notifying owners July 14. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.

I’ve had mine now for a little over a week. I’ve been trying to explain to my husband how it has felt a little shaky or sensitive on the highway. Well today I was on my way to the dealership to pick up my registration and I had a scare on the highway. It really had a wobble and my steering wheel was even shaking. Some f-bombs flew! I was so scared. The dealer got service right away when I got there and he took it for a test ride with me. Nothing happened. He took it in and and checked everything and deflated the tires. I’m hoping it will do the trick! Very scary!!

I am glad you had it at the dealer to check this. Most likely over inflated tires. I see
so many posts about too much air. What happened to dealer Prep ? Mine were correct
when I picked up. Please keep us posted as the steering issue was before 2dr. production
started. Please don't worry too much but by all means be aware and enjoy your JL.

FFS, what a mess. If it were me I would be tempted to pay that 400 and be done with it. I mean, you shouldn't have to but this situation is silly.

have thought about that, but am worried at this point they'd say it will take a week to come off the truck to go on another dedicated truck i'm paying 400 for. in my mind, it loaded to the truck and it's now not accessible and blocked in by other vehicles, and they are eating popcorn waiting til they get a full truck.... criminy...there's a good chance they'd just say "nah"
