Problem being there's very little manual JK selection left. The Tacoma is the other manual 4x4 available, which is what I want.

They're both fun, for some reasons the same, and some reasons different. There's some overlap in the enjoyment for sure. And if I get a Tacoma it'll probably just be for two years until early JL problems are thoroughly addressed.

The main thing is that I've been pushing off a new vehicle with excuses for years, and I'm tired of exclusively driving a Honda.
I made the mistake of buying a 2018 Tacoma Off-Road because the JL was too far away. Big mistake, this truck has no soul!!!

That might be true to a degree but I need some offroad in my life this summer.

They might have a little soul but they certainly have no guts. That 3.5 cannot propel the truck properly

I hear ya, kinda the same reason I bought mine. Too bad you are in Utah, I'd sell it to you. The off road capability of the Tacoma is surprisingly pretty damn strong but the engine does SUCK. The lack of power really shows on the interstate so make sure and test drive there if you buy one. The engine sounds like a lawn mower and constantly gears down going up the slightest hill searching for power :crying:

I've driven a manual one and that's what I'd get. Definitely less usable power than the old 4.0, which they shouldn't have replaced

at least they look pretty good inside and out

This thread needs some good vibes this morning! You'll all get your 2 doors eventually. Here's a lovely one:

Where is that picture from? Wondering if there is a higher res original - looks like what I have on order. I will blow it up and put it in the garage as a placeholder.

I believe it's part of the Car and Driver set

Great pic and post. This is why I am waiting for a 2 door. It is iconic and Jeep did a very nice job with the redesign. I have Rubicon premium soft top on order so hopefully June....

I have had 2 and 4 door wranglers. I don't need the extra space of the 4 door anymore and the 2 door just says Jeep to me.

Hopefully a JL 2-door
Ok so this had happend the last three times i talked to jeep chat about my order status.

tldr: first they told me I was in D then when i asked them to check again they said D1 indeed. Their systems look disorganized.

me: hi, looking for an update, info xxxxxx
chat: congrats! one moment
chat: looks like in D
me: but last week i was in in D1 and have a build date 4/18, told by chat and my dealer both
(a while)
chat: my apologies, different systems are showing different things. you are right! it is in fact in D1 for 9/12/13 days as of today. However it is not built yet, this stage could take up to 30 days.

Also, chat confirmed me a build date of Apr 18th multiple times, but when I checked with them on 4/19, chat said the 4/18 date was a computer generated date and the vehicle has not been built yet and they don't know more.

So this is my information. If you have been in D1 but got back to D again, ask them to check again and may get a different response.

I hope the two-door delay again thing mentioned by one of the posts earlier is not what's actually gonna happen...

I caved in and went with the 4dr. Dealer told me I would not get my 2dr till mid June if everything went fine. Pick the JLU up Monday

I hate to turn this into a "sunk costs" discussion, but wouldn't it feel crappy to wait three or four months for a 2 door, then cave to a 4 door when only a month was left?

Not to mention spending $3,500 more

And missing out on true Jeep styling

Simple, just pretend that you're married to the 2 door. You wouldn't go cheating on your wife with some tramp (I.e. a 4 door), right?

I think we should all get a special bumper sticker made for the Great 2 Door Wait of 2018

You're making a very big assumption that there is only 1 month left though... Im starting to see it as how long am i going to wait before just cutting my losses
