On another note, I was looking at ordering some parts (as I havent had a wrangler for a couple years), and in looking at some new side mirrors I came across some "customer pics" of the mirrors on peoples jeeps, but they were all on 4 doors w/ the doors off. Man I'm not typically one to yuck-somesone's-yum, but 4 doors with doors off just isn't for me.

The wait for the past few months has been brutal (especially b/c I decided I was getting a JL when they were rumored early last year), and the lack of transparency from FCA has been atrocious, but I will 100% hold out another month for the 2dr PST, I mean if I'm paying 40k for a Jeep, I'm going to make sure its exactly what I want (given the hand we're dealt w/ no 2dr Sahara's). For everyone changing their orders from PST, I would probably refrain from doing this.. After these hardtop 2drs are built over the next couple weeks, Jeep will likely hold all of the 2 doors for a few weeks to ensure there no issues w/ leaking, software updates and such, let alone the supposed "recall" on the 30k Wranglers in the shipping yard...

I think we'll all be seeing our jl's after Memorial Day, I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but I honestly don't know what to believe anymore- other than the fact that since I've waited this long, I might as well set some conservative expectations (and hope for a pleasant surprise!).

I'm with you, Jim. As anxious as I am to get my JL, I ordered exactly what I want and it's worth waiting for. Don't compromise!

Was at my dealer yesterday to add the Active Safety option to my order since I’m still in D status. (Ocean Blue, Premium Soft Top).
Noticed tons of leftover JKs, asked my friend there what’s going on with them and he said can’t move em it’s the same throughout the area.
Hmmmm... still think my conspiracy theory may be true. Hold JLs up till JKs move off the lots.
I don’t believe it’s a conspiracy, just poor planning. I guess they assumed there will be a wave of fans of the JK to buy them?
I know this was talked about a few months back, can’t remember what the forum members thought of the reason as to why this overlap.
Does anyone know if the dealers were obligated to take all these JKs?

They did not want a gap, new product lines have delays and it takes a while to swing to full speed.

If I remember correctly, that's about 8 days after going into D1. Please provide your build specs...i.e. LEDs, PST, etc.

and maybe that was a good call, since there's apparently 30,000 Jeeps with potentially rusty and rusting frames chilling in Ohio.

if I had a time machine I would've definitely ordered a custom JK while I could and rode it out until, say, 2020 for the JL.

I ordered back on 1-1 and change my top from pst to hard top just a day or 2 later. Nothing to do with delays at that point but because I knew I would get one eventually and wanted them to install the harness and washer line plus if the bcm needed to be flashed.

Totally agree. There are lots of good reasons to buy 4 doors but I personally can't get past the top down doors off appearance either.

fwiw, 29 2 doors on the tracker for D1, 1 i believe past D1. 2 are order dates of 3/5. all the rest are before that. I'm watching because i ordered 3/7, so going D1 for march orders seems imminent

Doubtful, the JK's will sell once they discount them enough
Why doubtful ? That's business 101, you never want to have to much or to little product on hand, and car dealers pay finance on their stock . So why would a dealer want 30 new jls on his lot when he's already paying interest on 30 jks

After my last post I called my dealer to confirm, he said I was still in D status and the that only the turbos were to start production this month. So I called Jeep customer service again, talked to a different lady that put me on hold for 4 mins. She said that 2 door are delayed and won't start production until late April. I told of people already in D1 and that I was told mine started the last time I called. She said that 2drs could have started production but she did not know and did not know why they are delayed. All she could tell me is that she gets some info to tell people and that it's not always up to date.
