Seen one? After reading various tailgate mounting ideas, I’m thinking maybe an interior mount for a 35” tire with rear seat delete may be an option.

Kind of takes up your interior room though doesn’t it? If you’re not carrying much you may be ok, but if you are taking much stuff with you it may get a bit crowded back there.

Not worried about interior room…literally do not use the backseat. This JL is really just a big ass golfcart. I don’t want to put a giant chunk of change into carrying a spare when I can chuck it in the back. The only dogs that ride along are <10lbs. I’m looking at Clayton 1.5” performance … my wheel tire combo would push 100 lbs. I really don’t want to delete the spare but I’d rather spend $150 on a delete than $2K on a swing out carrier. I don’t like the reinforcement options, overly complicated installs for something I don’t want/need. I have the Mopar reinforcement. Thinking of getting the goose gear platform and the Poison Spider 3 point spare harness and just finding a way to ratchet it in the back. Then maybe going minimalist rear. VERY UNDECIDED IF YOU CAN’T TELL?.

Hard to tell from one of my JKs, no spare, just threw it in the back on longer trips.

Maybe build a plywood platform for the back. Wheel/tire slides under and you still have a flat deck for carrying other stuff as needed? Just a thought.

I like and have seen this idea used. If you're undecided on the goose gear, can you use the loops the rear seat attaches to the tub as ratchet points to secure the spare tire?

What I did for my 37” spare. Lots of space. Recovery gear sits in the wheel well below the plywood platform.
