Have had a few JKU/JLU's with the 3.6 over the years, issue free. Thinking of going with the 2.0 next time around, in the near future. Coming into this area of the forum one would think to stay away from this engine. What is the real deal? Are all these issues I'm seeing small in the overall picture of this engine universally?

Stay away or or it's a great engine and people just like to complain here?

I think you'll see the complaints/problems more often because it's weird to make a post saying, "Hey, my engine sounds normal and is running fine. What do you guys think?" :)

I have a 2.0, almost two years, purchased new. I'm loving it

How many Jeeps are on the road? My small town in Indiana is full of them and Ford F150's.
You would think from reading the forums that F150's will fall apart after driving off the lot.
My 2019 5.0 was flawless, my 2017 Toyota Tacoma was not.
Shit happens....
My 2019 2.0 so far has been flawless.
Every manufacturer has some kind of issues.

One might think you have stock in Stellantis or something. :) jk. Glad yours has been good. Wish I could say the same.

The 2.0L is fine just use a good synthetic oil and change it no later than 4-5K miles.

If you plan to keep the jeep I’d suggest using premium fuel. Yes it can take 87 octane but, in my experience with direct injected turbo charged engines premium fuel is best.

We love ours….

If you think this subforum is bad, don't go over to the 3.6 section. FCA hasn't fixed the head/cam issues even after 15 years of production.

I'm only slightly biased. I had a 3.6 fail in a Jeep JK. So, this time around I went 2.0.

I prefer the power and torque of the 2.0 over the 3.6 for sure.

My 2020 2.0 sounds like an Electrolux vacuum cleaner but it’s been bulletproof.

I’ve got a 2019 2.0 w torque that’s been running flawlessly so far. It sounds like a diesel in the cold wi winters on start up but other than that it’s got good passing power on the highway, pretty solid mpg. I guess it’s just been all around solid for me.
