2.0 noise

There were a number of posts a while back....
someone checked and found that there was a grommet missing on their firewall. Driver's side?

my 2019 was noisy on startup. I eventually blamed it on direct injection as someone else already posted.

Don't have it anymore. Rubi has the 3.6 and I like it better.

Fwiw, I switched from Mobil 1 Extended Performance to Valvoline Extended Protection and it was noticeably quieter. As to top qualities per used oil analysis, the Valvoline is a close second to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum used oil testing results. Mobil 1 formulation has been neglected and they are relegated to a mid grade performance at premium pricing.

Interesting. Mine sounds like a mini diesel for the first 10 minutes after starting, then like a lawnmower until 3000 RPMs. I found a few more topics on this issue after posting and it seems to be a normal thing. Guess it is what it is.

Mine sounds exactly the same but seems to run well despite the noises.

Yep - sounds like embarrassing garbage on start up but quiets down after a few miles. Sounds like a turbo diesel when warmed up.

Yeah a cold 2.0 on startup and takeoff sounds like a loaded pot rack falling from the ceiling.

I don't like it, but it doesn't seem to hurt anything. It warms up really fast.
