There are lots of easy ways to get USB power to the front. When you partially open the windshield you can easily and cleanly run power to the dash (or wherever you want it). I use the SPOD, with two switches/circuits that are only hot with the ignition on, and the rest are hot all the time, but you can set it up any way you wish. The cheapest, easiest route is to skip the SPOD and just install a fused line that‘s always hot with several USB ports or other power. I ran a triple head charging cord, so my lines are right next to the phone mounts. Several phones can be mounted and charging, without any messy wires hanging around or down the dash, but it would be equally easy to set up a camera, or gps, or whatever.

WELL, if you move F81 to F82 and vice versa and see no change in power for the rear power outlet is is because the friggin manual is wrong.

What you need to do is move the yellow F43 to F45 or vice versa. In one position you have rear power outlet on all the time and the other position you have the rear power outlet only on when the ignition is in Acc or Run.

SO, go to where F43 and F45 resides, pull up on the fuse and move either to the left or right and then push down on the fuse..
This has been corrected in the owners manual at least for 2021 model year. It's page 72.

@drrobinson

This thread was started in 2018. The error was seen in the first JL (2018) Owner's Manual.

Indeed, the error in the Owner's Manual was eventually corrected..

By the way, the 2022 Owner's Manual, also has the correct info .... it's on page 73.

FWIW, in case it helps somebody, i found in the downloaded PDF Owners Manual that the reference to switching the fuse for the Cargo Area Outlet is on the page marked 399 (which is actually the 401st page in the file ?).

"Customer can select to switch the Cargo Power Outlet from F43 battery fed power to this position F45 which is fed when the ignition in ON."

I finally got around to looking into this for myself...

See F43 and F45 circled in pic below:

Once again Rhinebeck my friend, thank you so much for your help and the amount of time you spend sharing, educating and disseminating information on Jeep settings and the intricacies of it. I needed my rear power jack to be only ON when my Jeep is on and your instructions really helped. I really appreciate man!!! Cheers!

Is it confirmed the console USB always has power? I plugged in my dash cam there, and I'm very happy with the "wiring," but I'd rather it not ALWAYS be powered -- the storage isn't huge, and I only get a few hours on loop. (I'd rather it record while driving, and use the built-in "emergency record" feature if someone bumps it while it's off.) Judging by the footage, mine seems to be constantly running. Is there a fuse I can move for that one, too?

I ended up using the rear wiper for "always on" (no idea why that is always on) and the heated seats for the ignition.

So for those of us with the incorrect owners manual - and given that F43 has three slots that can determine the on/off sequence - what is F45 for?
