We've rolled out a "CLUBS" section where you can join or create a Jeep club or group! You can use this new feature to conveniently plan and discuss local events and gatherings, or to discuss any locally or special interest relevant topics.

Most sections of the forums have the ability to watch, ignore, etc. It's that intentionally missing from this new section?

Huge proponent of joining your local Jeep club(s). The biggest downside, though, is that most of them are on FB, mainly because it's the easiest place for the majority of the population to find and join.

The biggest downside to *that* downside is that FB sucks, for a theoretically unlimited number of reasons.

So this feature is cool, but is there a process by which owners/leaders/etc of existing clubs will be notified somehow that a duplicate of their club has been created here?

I personally would *love* if I could move all of my Jeep clubs over here, and then just straight up delete FB once and for all, but I can't see how that's really going to happen.

Our Clubs section is not strict and is open-ended. It doesn't have to be (though it can be if you want) tied into or related to an existing Jeep club.

The clubs made here can also just be a JLWF-specific club (i.e. virtual online club) if you like. There's no rules on creation/existence -- use it however you want! ?

This is all casual folks. There's no rules or expectations to moderate a club/group if you create it. It's just a space for discussions between members who share a common location or interest. If meets/events arise out of it, then great. If not, then just as good if the club/group online converses online. Think of it as a long-running forum thread.

So it's less about "create a space on JLwranglerforums for your local Jeep club" and more about "create a new local club on JLwranglerforums"?

I like the idea, but still not sure how it's different from the "Staging" area that we already have? Is it just that it's more user-generated, as opposed to the Staging area which has specific geos already created?

I didn’t look super thoroughly, but maybe have a way to filter by state/location (if it’s there already and I missed it, my apologies).

I did my best to persuade my Jeep club not to move to Facebook. Two years later we had vastly more users and most of the organizers had lost all interest. FB is a nightmare.

Definitely need a filter for geographical areas. I don't want to shift through hundreds of "clubs" to figure out which are in my area. How about moving these clubs to the regional forums?

As for calling these groups "clubs," I disagree as much as I disagree with calling a Facebook group a "club." I've belonged to many clubs over the years and currently I'm a member in three local clubs, as well as ~10 Facebook groups. Yes, you can post in Facebook groups and in forums an invitation to a local run, ask questions, and generally socialize as my daughters do on Instagram. However, the interaction, responsibility, and co-dependency are nowhere to the level expected in an actual club.
