1. Can you change the height of the springs and keep current shocks?
(2.5" teraflex lift, but replace with 1.5" springs to bring the whole jeep down approx 1". Teraflex rep said those shocks an accept a 3/4" or 1" spacer to level, but 1" longer being ok doesn't mean 1" short is. The Teraflex 2.5" and 3.5" ift uses the same shocks)
2. The 2.5 lift came with sway bar links. Can the 2.5 links stay with a 1" drop, or need to return to factory link length?

Basically, can I turn the 2.5" lift into a 1.5" by just installing springs that are 1" shorter?

The compressed length of the shocks is the only potential issue. Assuming your lift included bump stop spacers, so long as you retain them you'll be fine. Generally speaking no suspension is designed so that 1" lower will hurt anything. Guess what happens if you load 4 large adults and some camping gear in the Jeep? It probably sits a full 2" lower than it does empty.

Thank you. I figured but I'm still new on the learning curve of jeep stuff. Doesn't hurt to ask.

I did this temporary lift prior to installing a Rock Krawler 3.5” lift. I was happy with it
Some of what I did was unnecessary

First a disclaimer. I’m a rookie when it comes to suspensions. I was looking for a stop gap until I can install a proper 3.5” lift in the future. I have a 23 JLU Rubicon XR and was tired of slamming into the bump stops in the front jounce tubes.

I literally just finished a similar installation today with Teraflex 1.5” spacer lift, Bilstein 5100’s for 2-3” lift, and Mopar longer lower front control arms. I moved the rear OEM sway bar links to the front and installed these Teraflex sway bar links in the rear

I also installed the Metalcloak durospring bump stops
https://metalcloak.com/durospring-replacement-jounce-bumper-jeep-jk-jl.html
I bent/straightened the front brake line brackets that attach to the front lower control arm, but may install these instead
https://teraflex.com/brake-line-anchor-kit-w-1-mounting-hole.html
I relocated my parking brake cables for more slack and installed this
https://www.synergymfg.com/synergy-jeep-jl-jlu-parking-brake-cable-relocation-bracket.html

Some of what I did is probably unnecessary just out of lack of knowledge and experience. People here like @rocky and @Zandcwhite can give you better advice

If you don’t off-road you will probably need less up travel than if you do.

On flat ground measure your shock length, as it rests now. Subtract an inch to have your new lift’s expected static shock length. Do your research on your shock’s compressed length. I would want the minimum shock length to be at least 3” less than the static length.

You could always remove a shock and compress it to measure the minimum length.

Your bump stops should be set to hit before the shock bottoms out, but when that happens it’s not comfortable.
