I have been eyeing up these Rusty rails for some time now. How was the install? Do you have to take out the body bolts for installation?

Took out the 3 body bolts a side, front goes back with just the body bolt, the 2 rear mounts you also use the frame bolts on either side of the body mount, as well as drilling a hole each side for extra bracing. I used a jack , but they fit super snug in between the body mount pocket, little bit of chain lube helped slide them into place. But I'm ok with that as my last rails folded up into my body when I hit rock, being only mounted on the body mounts and not frame.

How did the radflos ride compared to the 3.3’s and now the RRD?
The Radflos were too stiff for Daily driving IMO. The faster I went over bumps, they were perfect. I could hit the large train tracks by my house going 50 and not spill my coffee, lol. But every little dip or gutter was really stiff going slow. The RRDs are much better for DD use and still really smooth going fast as well.

I know this is an old post, but we just released "official" JL/JT tube doors :)
AND they will work with SpiderWebShades too :)
(You may have seen them, since CP has had them for a bit)
Matt

So the Doors are Rancho brand from my JK. They fit the JL in the front, but the rears they are redesigning. I had to remove the rear handles and just bungee to latch with the spiderwebshade ball.

Rancho, I have to get over to SWS to photograph those! But in the meantime figured you could appreciate the mod I did to the JK doors. Flipped the rear handles left to right/upside down and built a spacer/adapter plate to mount them

Installation of the steering
I currently have stock tie rod and drag link with metalcloak stabilizer. How do you like the cavfav steering? any feedback will be great.

Love it! The ends are super responsive, the bar is heavy duty, 1.75" aluminum. Can take an actual hit on a ruck, and just bends back. Highly recommend.

Cool. I been experiencing shimmy when hitting potholes. No big deal my alignment might be off. But the cavfab steering is super beefy and should eliminate the stabilizer which I think its not needed anyways.

Is it a quick response when turning left or right? Any shimmy or aligning issues?

I can tell you your alignment isn't affecting a shimmy. JLs are just known to be loose. You can only adjust toe with straight axle and stock arms, or pinion if you have adjustable control arms.

This tightens everything up, and is beef for larger tires. OEM TREs can't handle turning large rubber that long.
I did run it without the stabilizer for a month, but suggest getting the CMM 1.75" clamp for the tie rod and the Synergy track bar bolt mount for a shock. It sucked with out , lol.

Just installed the American Adventure Labs Fender retention kit and documented the process in case it helps anyone out on the future :)
