Should start another thread titled "Tempted to cancel 2 door order" If jeep stumbles across it then maybe they will be more inclined to provide an update or explanation on the delays and what caused them. If we are lucky they may also provide some kind of compensation.

Lol seriously....I submitted some offers to some dealers in the area for 4 doors with similar specs of my 2dr at the same discount % I got....no-one has bitten so far and doubt they will being I'm from Los Angeles. Might as well lease a Rubicon and reeeally get the Jeep I wanted.

Somewhere on this forum somebody posted an admission from Jeep Chat that they don’t have the same production status access that dealers and reps have, and that we should trust what our dealers say. Balance that against the number of dealers who don’t know anything...

Perhaps if I inquired again today I’d be back in D. But, what difference does it make? I was in D for 8 weeks... Jeep Chat told me 3 weeks ago my build would happen in “late February.” Obviously that information was incorrect. My dealer told me since day 1 that April/May was realistic. Now it’s June.

The long and the short of it for me is that I’m not going to invest time and energy checking my status every week. When I go D1, I’ll know. If I don’t get that notification by mid-April I’ll bug my dealer, again. Pestering Jeep Chat, or my dealer, every day won’t get me my Jeep any faster, but it will frustrate me and them.

I am on an emotional roller coaster. However, I have vowed as of today to stay committed to my order. My dealer claims I am still D status but as many have pointed out on this thread - I am not sure that means much of anything.

I confirmed with my dealer who is pretty spot on.
He said FCA has pushed back production on 2 doors, (no reason given).

Bottom line, we all have to wait, maybe they are fixing issues, I'm OK with that.
For those that need a DD, this is a major bummer, for the price I'm getting, I'll wait and get what I ordered,...

Here is email today:

Dealer: Just found out that the factory has pushed the 2 doors back to a build time around the end of March.

Me: Please clarify, is that a completion time or commencement time, when you say build time end of March?
If it is start time, then I'm looking at May if it is a 6 week build, would that be a fair statement?
I'm still OK with that, if that is the case.
Please advise.

Dealer: That is a start time, but they only take 2 days to build. So if it goes in on the 28th, it'll be done on by the 30th and delivered around the 15th

Me: Ok, Thanks for the info

This is great to hear, however, raises the questions as to why FCA is quoting 10-12 weeks to complete a build. Are they just giving a super conservative time frame to keep their asses safe in the event an individual build gets delayed significantly?

Pretty sure they're saying that those placing orders now will nominally face 10 to 12 weeks for delivery after 2dr production starts. If they actually do start in April, there will be a 4 month backlog of orders to clear. The vehicle may be built in 48hrs once it gets on the assembly line. However, the time it takes to get to the line is a completely different matter.

My dealer checked with his Jeep Rep yesterday and got this message back from the Rep:

" Yes I spoke to Laura Lopez and she looked in the back screen.. she did confirm that the were issues with 2 doors but she said that were good as of now I can’t forecast if anything happen in between but I did speak to someone directly."

Can you address some missing verbs or punctuation in this because I don't know how to comprehend this?

That is word for word what I got from my dealer's rep.

My interpretation is there were 2 door issues, now there are not (I don't believe this based on everything else I read here). And looking forward is looks ok but the rep can't predict if something else might come up.

I don't speak Jeep rep lingo but that is how I read it. Just throwing it out as more somewhat conflicting info.

i think so - like they’re trying to account for all variations in custom orders, including soft, hard and dual tops, etc...hoping for may, not june. april would be even better!

Just talked to my dealer who just got off the phone with his rep. He confirmed there have been production problems with 2 doors, however building should begin in March with delivery by end of April. Hope they are right!
I have just set my expectations for May, hopefully it comes in April. But I also ordered a soft top so don't know the delayed schedule affects soft top orders.

In 2015 I ordered a 2 door rubicon. It took 22 days to be delivered after it was in D1. I am in the Chicago area and they shipped on a truck from Toledo. JL process will likely be slower I'm guessing.

Hey, I have a 2-door, soft top, 2.0L... I think that's the delay trifecta. Actually, LEDs too. Quadfecta
