I bought a set of windshield tie downs thinking it might be fun to run a little with the windshield folded down at some point. Well, today was the day. It was GREAT! It was only about 75, so it was perfect outside, so we ran around this way all day, running errands. We maxed out at about 50mph, mostly driving country roads, town streets, and the neighborhood. I got hit in the nose by one small bug, so no big deal. My daughter had one hit her in the chin. No harm. It just reminds you to keep your mouth closed. Regular sunglasses kept the wind to a tolerable level on the eyes, but I also have a pair of motorcycle sunglasses from Walmart that have foam around them so they act like goggles. They worked really well, but the sunglasses were more comfortable. Anyway, the kids absolutely loved it and were asking for rides all day! Tomorrow's weather is supposed to be perfect, too, so I'll do another day with it before buttoning it back up. This could become one of my favorite features of the JL! 3 Jeeps and 25 years and this is the first time I've driven more than up and down a neighborhood street with the windshield folded. Love it! (I folded it once before, when only a few months old, but didn't go fast or far due to no tie down straps.)

Glad you had fun!!

(Now don't take it personally when some grump on here inevitably replies that you shouldn't endanger yourself and everyone else in the world by doing such an irresponsible thing. :CWL:)

Thanks! Did you do anything with the spare tire mount? Or was it as simple as adding the larger tires to 5 stock wheels and getting the engine coded for the 35s?

thanks!

It worked out perfectly. The spare very slightly rests on the bumper, which is perfect. I have a Tazer JL, so I calibrated the speedo by the tire diameter and a gps on my phone. Otherwise, I'd have had the dealer do it. That KO2 is not too heavy, either. I think it comes in at about 64 or maybe 63 pounds. It is among the lighter tires in that size. It rides and handles beautifully and works well with the Mopar lift, in all road conditions. I've found them to be outstanding off-road, too.

I've been hit/stung in the face with enough bees to appreciate windshields and helmet faceshields.

But I live in one of the highest honey producing areas of he world, YMMV

Lol, it is worth it. Bees and honey are like gold!

You won't see anything about me driving at night, either. :CWL:

If nothing else, folding the windshield to wash and buff the inside clear is amazing.
Lol, you are so right! I can also treat the dash and seals with 303 without smearing any on the glass.

Jeep Wrangler JL Fold That Windshield! T8UQVgM
When riding with the windshield down and soft top, are you required to remove the rear windows?
Lol, I think it would do it for you. The amount of air coming through at even 30mph is surprising.

Well, the weekend is over. It took less than 10 minutes, with me moving at a liesurely pace, to put the windshield back up. The long term forcast makes for a good chance for it to go down next weekend. We had a blast with this thing down the last two days.

Sounds fun. Would like to try too whenever it's not 102 degrees outside. Yikes!!!
