Hi guys...

Just got a 2019 Sahara, build date May 19.

Its making this loud ticking noise that comes and goes... What could it be or is it normal?

You can clearly hear it in the video.

Thanks!

The noise seems to come mostly from underneath the Engine.

Oil level is fine and the truck has 15 miles on it.

Not normal, not good. Take it back, immediately.

Sounds like an old inline 6 built by AMC. One pint of marvel mystery oil was the fix for that engine. Take it back and be aware that after market lubricants will quiet it down some but a problem does exist. Good luck!

Took it to the dealer, they were very helpful and told me they could do two things:

A) order parts and fix it.

B) put a few miles on the Jeep and it should disappear, they say they had a few hiccups like this in new engines and it goes away some time.

The noise does come and go for no apparent reason.

What do you guys think?

It is hard to offer an opinion without knowing specifically what is making the noise. If they say they can order parts to fix, then they should be able to tell you exactly what the issue is. But then dealerships are also full of shit on many occasions.
No matter what you decide, document everything in the event you have to elevate to FCA.

I think there is a TSB on the rocker arms for this. It it was mine I would not put any miles on it until fixed. Sounds like an easy repair. I would not risk a rocker becoming dislodged and risk bending a valve

They said ā€œA Rocker Armā€
If the rocker arm is damaged/ badly manufactured that noise isnā€™t going to ā€˜disappearā€™.

You should get them to fix it and give you an equivalent loaner in the meantime.

You can escalate this to @JeepCares on here if you feel youā€™re not getting the appropriate reaction from the dealership

Are we completely sure this isnā€™t a 4 cylinder??

JK

Take it to the dealer. Itā€™s a good motor theyā€™ll fix it. Sucks that itā€™s so new but crap happens.
