I took her out topless!

My garage is my workshop, so I don’t have the space to hang a hoist for my hardtop. So with the inspiration and ideas of a few others I have designed my version, of a portable (moveable) hoist. By removing a couple of the bolts the whole thing folds up for storage, which was essential. I used simple 2x4 and one piece of 2x8, $22 hand wench off amazon, casters, plus a bunch of spare hardware I had lying around. The doors are hung on simple eyelet lag screws wrapped in vinyl tape.

Day 29

Back on day 26 I installed my rack lights. The more I stared at them the more I didn't like the front ones. The square tubing looked odd although necassary, I added 3.5" more to my clearance just for 10% more frontal light and it limited my rack options like tents, etc. The side lights looked good but also again are up clearance and rack space. I did the rear light perfect, but those brackets took a while to build and I got lazy. Anyway I went ahead and built low clearance brackets for the side lights and removed the front lights.

I also installed Quadratec CB mount. I had to file a little bit off the bottom to clear the Teraflex spare tire carrier. I also had to add some spacers behind CB bracket so it wouldn't hit the Mopar reinforcement bracket. I decided to leave the Mopar reinforcement bracket mount open for a flag, etc.

The Maximus-3 ladders require you to drill 2 more holes through the hardtop and body on each side in the cargo area. These 4 bolts have a nut underneath. If you don't plan to take your top off then this works just fine. If you do plan to take your top off you'd have to pull carpet and trim panels to get to nuts and hope you don't drop them. So I made some brackets the won't fall and can be left in place or pulled out

Just ordered a set of Roam Rock Rails for my JLU. Anthony has been a great help through the process and was able to answer all my questions. I paid for the order today and by the afternoon, received a tracking number in my email from UPS that it has already shipped. Itll be here Thursday. Cant wait to get these things installed.

Been following Roams threads and posts for a few months now and finally decided to pull the trigger on these. Can’t wait to see them in person and get the mounted. Ill post pics once I get them installed.

Nice! Did you paint them with the calipers still on and installed on the rotor?

My last post here for a little while, and it's small.

Got a Warn polished hawse to replace the painted black one that came with my winch. Much happier with it since my Artec winch plate came with an aluminum fairlead plate. I'm not one to replace stuff based on colors or "accents" but this was worth $31.

Dynomax muffler delete. It’s louder and has a more aggressive note. Only really notice it during acceleration, but pretty much silent at cruise. Overall it’s worth it in my opinion for the clearance alone. I will say if you’re sensitive to aftermarket sounding exhaust you won’t like it. Now I have to figure out where to relocate my trailer plug in.
Can someone explain this to me? Don't you by law have to have a muffler. I am just curious, seen this modification a lot lately and just trying to learn the legalities of it.

Thanks!

It depends on the State you live in. For instance, we still have a resonator upstream. That is also considered a muffler device. The turbo itself also muffles the exhaust note a bit. For all intents and purposes the Neon SRT4 was straight piped from the factory, however it had two inline resonators towards the front. It really comes down to semantics.

Finally took the doors off yesterday and took a drive through the countryside to a friend's farm. Unfortunately the temps dropped into the 50s as soon as the sun went down but I did get to use the heated seats lol.

The way it was explained to me is that since you aren't removing the cat you're fine. As far as noise, as long as you have a resonator you're in good standing legally if anyone complained. The only other thing I would add is that prior to considering this I was looking at the rock basher from AFe and there was concern that if you lived somewhere that required smog testing, the exhaust had to 1. not be split meaning if it starts as one pipe it had to remain that way (I think meaning you couldn't bypass the cat) and 2. the exhaust had to terminate at the exterior of the vehicle for carbon monoxide concerns in addition to the technician being able to hook the equipment to the exhaust since he's not going to go crawling under the vehicle to find it. I chose this mod for all the above reasons in addition to not being obnoxiously loud and if I'm going to be using it offroad I didn't want to stick a $500 exhaust on it. It's a Jeep not a Maserati.
