I’m trying to make sure I can get ss on top of tie rod, before I get one. I’ve been one of the lucky ones as far as steering issues, so far I haven’t had to put on the steer smart stuff yet. I know the time will come but for now I don’t want to risk scraping off a 400.00 ss. Lol.
Yeah i hear ya. I have steersmarts stuff with the metalcloak one and it works just fine clearance wise

So you are saying that your FORD has simply has two holes in the hood that lets all water rain, carwassh ect flood the engine compartment with NO water management, diversion, or drainage, and to top that off you are suggesting that the engine area is NO water resistant?

Why do you suspect that Mopar, went to the trouble to create a faux looking vent that is not functional with all the discussion of better heat management. do you not think that Mopar saw an issue with water intrusion which is why they likely made the vent inserts closed with a water drain.

If I lived in a warmer and fryer climate open vents and occasional rain I would see as a minor issue, as I mentioned in my post here in the NW rain is often a constant at times for weeks at a time, water on belts puddling on the engine and components, electrical connections, this is not advised in this climate. Most if not all factory vents have a water trap and drain. You want your air intake dry, your belts dry, water also creates oxidation especially on cast aluminum.

Look it is a good looking hood I was just pointing out the issues I had when looking to upgrade my hood, there were several that I found that I liked however none had any water management and living in the Wet NW we see how water wears and damages just about everything. That is why I reluctantly went with the rubicon hood since it had water management.

I was going to install the FiberworX hood however after talking to then they too recommended not using their hood in a wetter climate.

I’m just messing around. I would not cut the vents in my Jeep and I’ve never driven the Shelby in the rain. It’s got 650 wheel HP and I would die.

It would probably screw the warranty up

My friend and I took our Jeeps out to Big Bend National Park and did one of the Jeep "Badge of Honor" trails. It was a really easy trail, did all but one obstacle in 2wd, but it was worth it overall.

I’ll ask a somewhat pointless question. Why are you in 4 low in the garage?
I dont think thats 4L. Looks more like N. 4L looks like a frog down some crazy acrobatic leg move. At least in mine.

Just got my first Jeep last month and loving it so far. JLU Sport S.

Most of my mods have been pretty small. Don't intend to do any hard core wheeling. Just some light off roading and beach. But it's mostly our daily driver and family car. I've always wanted a Wrangler since I was in high school and I'm glad they've catered to the 'family car' demographic. There's a Wrangler for everyone! We drove with the top down (just the freedom panels) the other day for the first time and the kids loved it.

List of my mods:
-Installed gas cap cover [
-Replaced antenna [AntennaX Off-Road (13-inch) Antenna for (07 thru 19) Jeep Wrangler JK JL]
-Installed Bushwhacker sill guards (I'm so glad they make these because they also end up covering the pinch seam) [Bushwacker 14085 Rocker Panel Cover]
-Replaced front plastic bumper (euro guards were gross) with rubicon steel bumpers (I love the red tow hooks)

Accessories:
-GPCA cargo cover pro, for when I go top off, but I haven't installed it yet. I did install the quick release anchors though.
-Alien SunShade two piece that I have yet to install.
-Owl Camera. I got their mount that was made for vertical windshield but found it to be too bulky. I went back to the original mount.

I don't know if I'm planning to do any other major mods. I'm pretty happy with how it's looking and performing right now. I may replace the halogen headlights with LEDs.

Also looking at options on how to store my hardtop. Looks like the easiest (unfortunately the most expensive) is with the TopLift Pro.

Quick question: Does the Rubicon steel bumper expose the wires of the LED foglights? Mine are exposed and was wondering if there should be a covering behind there?

Exposed fog light wiring (steel rubicon bumper):

OR, you can do this for less than $200

I would think so. There was a guy in the group in front of us who had what looked like either a stock or close to stock JK Sahara and they made it through fine.

Thank you for the reply. I want to go out there before it gets too hot. Now the rain is slowing down I think it's a good time.

Yes, if you understand how to pick a line. It’s a really fun trail.
Maybe not if you are always looking for greater challenges. And good on ya if you are.
I’m not. I’m just easily enthused.

was an ‘18 Rubicon Mojito! now a boring Mazda
@jedisrus I’m not a huge fan of the back and how everything fits together. The bottom tabs on the back window do not stay up under the lip. I love riding around with just the back window out (yes, I’m aware it’s not recommend for exhaust fumes ect), but I’m hesitant to do so. It’s not convenient to put things in the back cargo area. Having to undo both sides, then flip the thing up isn’t as easy as zipping the zippers to the corners on either side. I was not overly impressed with the instructions and the ease of the install. I used to always remove the black plastic trim on my older TJs and JKs because I liked the “plainer” look. I am just going to have to get used to seeing the “hardware” when the top is down.

There are some positives... I do like the “safari” option this top offers. The fact you don’t need to undo the sun visors to latch or unlatch the front is convenient. You can flip the top back in about 2 seconds. I also understand the JL was designed for the average consumer, which I am not. I’m sure most guys and gals love the functionality.

Some people would die to have the problems we have. All first world problems, I know.
I had to use he Cargo area this weekend and undoing the back window each time was a pain.
Only takes a few minutes but still annoying.

Dynomax muffler delete. It’s louder and has a more aggressive note. Only really notice it during acceleration, but pretty much silent at cruise. Overall it’s worth it in my opinion for the clearance alone. I will say if you’re sensitive to aftermarket sounding exhaust you won’t like it. Now I have to figure out where to relocate my trailer plug in.
