Wrapped up the front end (yesterday).

  • Installed the JL specific Nexus 2.2 with their Tie Rod Clamp (pretty easy to do, don't go out buying a JK verison if you haven't)
  • Torqued everything to spec
  • Checked and tightened ball joints.
I don't have the ability to check the torque for the ball joints in the knuckle very easily, but I can tell you they were not 40 / 70 ftlbs plus next castle nut opening tight. I tightened them up to the next spot which was pretty darn tight, but where they were, just no way was tight enough.

Finally got around to Installing the MetalCloak Undercloak skid plates that I bought during the Black Friday sale. Went on fairly easily with the help of a transmission jack to lift and support the plates. Only snag was that it seems that the bolt welded onto the transfer case skid that catches one of the bolts for the gas tank skid seems to be too small. The supplied bolt with dome washer is too big to thread in. I could just drill it and tap it to the correct size, but I’ll reach out to MetalCloak tomorrow to see what they suggest, Also, there’s two vertical support brackets for the gas tank skid (directions only mention and show one). I bolted up the rear most bracket without issue, but the I couldn’t bolt up the one in the middle of the skid because the bracket was the wrong shape. It’s ok to drive, but I don’t want to take it Offroad until I get it dealt with. I’m sure MetalCloak will make me happy.

Be sure you tell them when you bought it so they can send out the correct instructions. They have made some improvements since Black Friday and the correct instructions might help. I bought mine the same time and didn’t install till maybe January and there were differences

You got it.
Keep in mind that with the full steersmarts setup, my falcon is literally within 1mm of the drag link and track bar going full lock to lock turning the steering wheel. Not sure how big the ats is .

Ok, I’ll research it some, the fox ss isn’t set in stone for me, although I’ve been using their stuff for about ever. I like what I’ve been hearing about the one you have so I’m still figuring it out. Thanks!

Sweet! You think this would also work with the fox ss (ats)?
The JK fox ATS(with 1-5/8" clamp) comes with the bolt needed and the correct size clamp for the tie rod. I havent tried it with the draglink/trackbar in the factory location, but it works great with a high steer kit.
As @RubiRob mentioned it will probably be a very tight fit.

I think the bracket on the end the bolt is too big. Same with my metalcloak one. Unless its and eye and eye style ss the setup wont work. Need the fox clamp or similar

FUNCTIONAL HOOD VENTS ABOVE NON-WATER RESISTANT MOTOR

IMG_7132[1].JPG.webp
So you are saying that your FORD has simply has two holes in the hood that lets all water rain, carwassh ect flood the engine compartment with NO water management, diversion, or drainage, and to top that off you are suggesting that the engine area is NO water resistant?

Why do you suspect that Mopar, went to the trouble to create a faux looking vent that is not functional with all the discussion of better heat management. do you not think that Mopar saw an issue with water intrusion which is why they likely made the vent inserts closed with a water drain.

If I lived in a warmer and fryer climate open vents and occasional rain I would see as a minor issue, as I mentioned in my post here in the NW rain is often a constant at times for weeks at a time, water on belts puddling on the engine and components, electrical connections, this is not advised in this climate. Most if not all factory vents have a water trap and drain. You want your air intake dry, your belts dry, water also creates oxidation especially on cast aluminum.

Look it is a good looking hood I was just pointing out the issues I had when looking to upgrade my hood, there were several that I found that I liked however none had any water management and living in the Wet NW we see how water wears and damages just about everything. That is why I reluctantly went with the rubicon hood since it had water management.

I was going to install the FiberworX hood however after talking to then they too recommended not using their hood in a wetter climate.

I’m more concerned with the track bar side, you think that part of it would work? I think the fox ats come with clamp on tie rod side.
Oh gotcha my bad. Yeah should work fine

I took her out topless!

My garage is my workshop, so I don’t have the space to hang a hoist for my hardtop. So with the inspiration and ideas of a few others I have designed my version, of a portable (moveable) hoist. By removing a couple of the bolts the whole thing folds up for storage, which was essential. I used simple 2x4 and one piece of 2x8, $22 hand wench off amazon, casters, plus a bunch of spare hardware I had lying around. The doors are hung on simple eyelet lag screws wrapped in vinyl tape.

Hey, thank you, I appreciate.

There are two companies, and there is a debate on which one is better, but I went with safety restore.
https://www.safetyrestore.com/
https://seatbeltrestore.com/

And here is a thread discussing the details

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...n-seat-belts-wanted-for-my-new-jl.2554/page-4
I used https://seatbeltrestore.com/ and they were great. The customer service was outstanding and the belts themselves were perfect. They've may big improvements based on earlier feedback and I could not have asked for a better product.
