In fairness the "savings" you cite should be less since nobody pays MSRP. But the real issue is "would you really buy every single option that's included with the package"? If so, then your accounting is fair. If not, then it becomes a murkier picture. But you provided the data for the calculation so I'm sure you've helped people trying to decide so thank you!
Agreed :like:

I was looking to buy a Sahara for quite some time (I don't commit easily), then I heard about the Moab. I saw the specs and realized it had all the same options I was going to buy on a Sahara anyway, plus they added the other "Moab/Rubicon stuff" and my mind was made up!

Agree with all the posts. I was going to the dealer to buy a rubicon and saw a Moab on the lot and chose the Moab instead. My previous truck (ram powerwagon) had diff lockers and sway disconnect and never used them once. I don’t Rock crawl and figured i would prefer a more comfortable jeep (leather, sahara ride). Also since it comes with most of the goodies already your at a good starting point for modding. You also don’t see many Moab’s on the street being that is a special edition. Rubicons are everywhere. Screw the haters and get what you want.
Rubicons are everywhere for a reason...dont have to rock crawl to benefit from disconnect or lockers. Again, drives me nuts when people say "why buy a Rubicon if your not going rock crawling?".....well, because a Rubicon is a bad a$$ Jeep!!

Why do people buy Vette's or Ferrari's if they never take em' to a track and race them?? They buy them because they're awesome freakin sports cars.

MOAB edition is Jeeps way of selling an image. People who want that "image" buy Moab's.

Bought a 2018 MOAB today for $6k under sticker. Pretty happy with the purchase. Will see a lot more snow than rocks so the four wheel drive system in the Moab seemed like a better fit. Also there aren’t legal trails in CT or nearby NY.
Just need to find out the biggest tires I can squeeze in without rubbing. Dealer gave me the riot act that any lift done outside of a dealer will void the warranty.
6K under is the norm almost automatic...proves you did good at the dealer. Most people just get taken for rides and dont know how to buy a car.

Msrp on my order was $59,200...final sale was 52 and change.

Curious is 2019 Moab's are ditching the BFG MT for Falken MT's like on the Rubicon

"Riot Act"???

Warranty issues are decided by FCA not your dealer. You can easily go to another dealer if you want. Adding a correctly installed lift will not void your warranty, no matter where you got it installed that's non sense.

I don't dispute that a Rubicon is a bad a$$ Jeep, but be honest - all the Wranglers are! :like::jk: Same with Corvettes and Ferraris - they all have options that buyers have to choose from.

Just get the options that you want/need to do what you wanna do...

Totally agree bud.

My cell phone can do things and has certain options I'll NEVER use...doesnt mean I'm a tech poser. Just means it's a really cool phone and those options are there IF I ever need to use them.

I have a Moab and love it. In these discussions, remember, it’s your hard earned $$$$. Buy want you responsibly can and enjoy it.

We bought a Rubicon because we like to adventure, rock crawl (moderately), and overland to explore stuff. To be fair, I love the moab's, especially when they look like yours! So dang pretty :D

Clearly, the latter. Some individuals seem to be very insecure about their choices.
Come on Sean, we have a different thread for all that. :CWL:

I always kinda laugh when talking to someone with a top-of-the-line smartphone that never installs any apps on it, just using it for calls and text messages - I'm a tech-nerd so that's quite offensive, which may explain why I have a Moab:giggle:

I could just imagine the response that some Rubicon owners would get in the "tech" forums that I frequent. :CWL: All in fun, just kidding around :)

I think I agree with you(?)...maybe, but not sure. Do you think
Hey....if the shoe fits.

I think it's hilarious how many people think you only need lockers to "rockcrawl". <-that's the :CWL:

I'd love to take these people on a real snow run where the snow's really deep and the climbs are rutted and offcamber with big opposing holes....

Or even a "trail" ride back east. Meh...I have to conclude the folks that are proponents of running trails locker-less just don't know any better.
Couldn't have said it better...I tried........but couldn't, literally.

If your buying a Jeep, no such thing as a good deal. Until another manufacturer offers something similar,we all will continue to overpay for something we love
I don’t think I would even consider buying anything another manufacturer offers , they haven’t hit mark in 70 some years .. so I don’t see it happening anytime soon

Probably true, but you're both talking about some pretty extreme conditions. I've been on-road and off-road with mostly snow/ice conditions with my Moab so far (only had it a little over 3 months and it's frozen where I live) and have yet to get it stuck (and honestly I've tried kinda hard a few times just to test my limits). I'm sure I'll get into a situation where I will get stuck where I wouldn't be if I had a Rubicon, but that will be a rare occasion considering where I'm willing to take it. I realize I'll never change you're minds or others like them (Rubicon has more physical abilities than the other Wranglers), but if a person has ZERO want or need for those capabilities does that mean they shouldn't buy a Wrangler?
