While perusing the forum, this thread -

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/red-dash-trim-removal-replacement.3354/

Got me excited about the possibilities of painting the dash panels body colored. Obviously a pro paint shop can produce great results for around $250. Within this thread, a forum member purchased the color matched mopar spray ($20) and mopar clear ($20... both on amazon prime) and had seemingly great results. I would like to see/hear more experiences. I’m considering painting mine billet silver to match the exterior in the spirit of the CJ.

Awesome! Great thread btw! I love sting gray! Did you consider a sting gray dash?
I am going to get it professionally painted Sting Gray yes. I wanted to try the cheap DIY approach first and make sure I liked it.

Just lightly sanded down with fine sandpaper and primed.. then one can of mojito and one can of clear.. If I was going to do it again, I would use two cans of clear..
Your dash inspired me on the DIY route. Would you say it’s comparable to a body shop spraying the panels?

Where did you get the paint? I’ve searched internet paint suppliers and cant find Mojito, just previous lime green.

Search Amazon for PGE Mojito.

Don’t forget to buy some clear coat, too.

I got them off amazon, the mojito is hard to get a hold of. the first time I purchased a single can and then it went out of stock... when it came back I purchased another 3 cans and now its out of stock again.. and btw, the mopar cans are tiny... not the regular size rattle cans..

I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.. If youre patient and do it properly, it will turn out shop quality...Don't rush the sanding, clean properly, mask off the gauge cluster rings properly, wait the recommended time between coats, it should turn out great..

tbh, if you do mess up, which is unlikely, its not the end of the world.. its a good excuse to purchase a red dash... XD
