i did a headlight install over the weekend and it probably would have been easiest to just pull the front fenders off. But I did not have the appropriate rivets in my bag of fasteners. Just the standard reusable plastic fasteners.

Are these 1/4 plastic rivets? I see a bag of 25 on amazon for $7. What about the installation tool? They had one on there for $23.

Those little rivets are pricey from what I have heard. $5.00+- each.

Best be would have been to just pull the flair itself.

The white plastic clips that hold the flair on are very stout.

You can pull the flair and pop it right back on using the same clips.

Here is a pic of the clip used for the flair. They cost about $.65 each.

Those rivets work great. I've used them when I installed rock lights. Just make sure you get the poly rivet tool. It's not expensive and does its job perfectly.

When my Jeep was delivered, one of the flare clips shown in your photo was not fully seated. I could not seat it because the fender liner prevented me from putting pressure where I needed to, so I took it to the dealer. They removed the fender liner, seated the flare clip and re-riveted the liner. Will you please explain how I could have seated the clip without removing the liner? Thanks.

Funny, your dealer did not have to do as they did...

I helped a friend pull the flares on his JL. Really was not that big a deal.

Funny, afterwards, I found a video on YouTube that showed the process to remove. I just hunted down the video.... here you are:

Forgot to mention... If you need to replace the $.65+- white clip, they are readily had. Here is one place to get:

Thanks. Unfortunately, the video only shows how to take the flare off, not how to put it back on. My problem was that I could not press the clip back in without having access to put pressure directly behind it. Pushing on the outer edge of the flare would not do it.

Not sure what to tell you.. My friend and I removed the flares. He reinstalled the next day.

He said they easily pushed right back on easily. I distinctly, remembered asking him.

I might add he is not good at wrenching , so if he said it pushed back on easily, I assume it did.. otherwise he would have had me back there helping him.

By the way, he is 76 yo and blind as a bat... ho, ho, ho...

You know how to hurt a guy. I’m not quite that old and occasionally I can still see the light.
