This is the first JLU delivered to the dealer where I have a factory order and was dropped off on Wednesday. See anything odd?

I think they all come to the dealer like that and are prepared there (remove clips, etc.)

lol well color matched fenders are 2 piece right? Maybe the painted part blew off on the truck ride over.

This happened a few times on JKs as documented in other forums, but worrisome that it occurred so early in the life cycle.

"Single contrast fender" is a $600 option, or available as part of the $1400 "Piss off OCD people" package.

But seriously, this is FCA we are talking about. They didn't find their way to the bottom of every quality/reliability ranking by accident; they had to work for it!

Yep, looks like the painted cover on the left rear fender either flew off during transport or the dealership is fixing it.

Wait a sec....the paint matched fenders are just like popped on the regular fender? Basically like a cap or something that can pop off? And people pay $1000 for that option? :cwl:

I emailed the new car sales manager the same time that I posted this. He was previously unaware and acknowledges it's a problem. I looked at the black fender close up to see if it was possibly covered with paint protection used in transport. However, it's the same black finish as the black bottom piece of the fender that is common to both painted and black units. It sure doesn't look like there was a painted cover that blew off since the top half is perfectly flush with the bottom piece with no offset to allow a cover to fit.

Take a look at the rear fender on the right - the black trim along the outter side implies that the rear painted fenders just slip on top.

The fronts are different, I believe.

I, of course, could be completely wrong. I haven't touched one in the real world. lol

That'd be a pretty sad mess up on FCA's part though. lmao

Mine arrived with a horrific wind noise, quality control is still lacking.

In a color matched hard top red Sahara my dealer received, the rear part was color matched, but the front freedom panels were black. Oops.

Sorry I may have started this. I was totally being sarcastic. I don't know if they pop off easily or not but I personally pictured the paint matched part attached to the black base fender. I bet it's a QC problem. If it did pop off everyone really needs to be worried this will happen just driving down the highway. For the record the painted matched flares are only $500 or so ;)

Here are blowups of both fenders. It sure looks like the wrong black fender was fitted at the factory.
