Saw this video and was wondering if this is some major issue in JL safety features.
Feedback appreciated.

I really think the video is a joke (or at least I hope). My durango has them and this happens when the bumper gets covered in snow. However, there is a button to turn off the sensors.

Good to hear, thanks for your feedback.
So once you turn the button off it works fine if the issue occurs ?
Is that for the parking sensors only? Why would a beeping sensor affect the vehicle ability to move, as JL doesn’t have auto park assist.
Also if Chrysler is aware of the problem why not find a fix ??

Thanks

The sensors determine how close an object is to you. If it determines it's inches away, it stops the vehicle (applies the brake, safety feature) from backing up to prevent you from hitting it (potentially a kid?). So by turning off the sensors, it would allow you to back into whatever you want lol

Discussion on another thread. It is the auto park feature because they had the door open. Check the message on the instrument panel.

Thanks for your feedback. I didn’t know if this feature even existed in JL.
Thanks :)

Reminds me of the 70's Mercedes that would not start if you did not go through a specific seat belt/shifter ritual before attempting to start the car.

I'm glad I ordered mine without all of the nannies.....although it was my intuition that it was just one more thing to break or malfunction on the trail.

The proximity sensors only emit warnings. They do not brake the vehicle to prevent a collision.

The auto park safety feature is entirely separate from the proximity sensors and automatically shifts the auto tranny into Park under certain condition not related to proximity sensors.

Would like to confirm if that instruction page is legit with those series of items that will cause the auto trans to shift into park, or is that part of the joke people have been mentioning?
Page is from the leaked manual but not the official manual from jeep's website. I haven't downloaded the one from jeep's website yet.

Edit: just checked the 2nd edition owner's manual on jeep's website and info is the same.
