What is Lamin-X?
Lamin-X is a vinyl that is applied to headlights, fog lights, etc. They have clear as well as colors. I bought the yellow to reduce the reflection of the fog lights in rain and snow. It work's well but I may with switch out to Amber. A small sheet is enough to do the fogs and was around ~$15 at amazon. For more information: https://www.lamin-x.com

I installed my more dead pedal. Glad I did it before my jog or I’m pretty sure I would have pulled something!
Had an extra ten minutes before picking up the rugrats so I also threw in the MORE dead pedal. Awesome mod, though I think I should have used the mid position instead of the close position, so I’ll probably have to reinstall soon. Unfortunate that it’s not adjustable without removal.

Interesting how different our experiences can be installing these. Is it tools? Expectations? Technique? Seems it’s either trivial to install or an absolute bastard.

One may never know, if I tell you I will have to...

I have had Lamin-X on several vehicles with HID lights which get very hot and no issues, same with yellowing, on 6 years with no issues. Taking it off is simple, peel it off. I cut the vinyl larger than the fogs and trimmed to fit the casing and not just the lens.

Deleted the stock Sahara steps and Installed the Go Rhino D-6 Dominator Steps with removable drop steps. The stock steps were not very functional and extremely slippery when wet and for my wife who is only 5'2" it was a chore getting in and out, now she and get in and out with no problem with solid footing and then for offroad I can easily remove the drop steps and the board is then a slider.

Also I dressed up my XD Monster 822 wheels 18x9 with 35: KO-2, 2" Lift), these wheels have removable fins/spokes that you can get in Black Chrome and Red. Obviously the above is the Black and below I switched to the Chrome fins/spokes. I put the chrome on the driver side and left the black on the passenger still not sure which I prefer (any comment positive or negative appreciated) I am also contemplating Red fins/Spokes.

All three look awesome against a black JL!!! You have either the blackout look or you get some nice color contrast. Nice choice of wheels.

The wheels came with the Black fins and I ordered the Chrome fins, I am kinda tired of seeing blackout wheels on black rigs. I am ordering this week the Black Mountain Rubi Hood with the custom paint (pic below) so I think the Red will really work best. I just plasticoated (red) a set of the Black fins yesterday to try out. I really likes the versatility of the wheels, they also look great without the fins

Do you have plans on installing an all metal bumper? If the metal bumper is all black then the grill would pop.
Well no, I don't want to go crazy just yet but I think getting a new set of black wheels would help

I took me the same time. I’m just lucky enough to have had 3 spinal surgeries in 3 years and am not very flexible. So it it was the contortionist aspect that was hard for me. 1/4 drive ratchet and an swivel and extension was enough tools.

Seems that’s not a straightforward answer.

I found it easy, though it’s an awkward spot. Others have found it really challenging.

I think what may be the difference is that I am ok with working “blind”. Getting the nuts on seems to be the hard part - I don’t need to look while threading the nuts on - I “see” it with my fingertips and work by feel. Trying to see this thing and get nuts on it at the same time would be rather difficult. So don’t. Work by feel instead.

For body positioning, I was leaned against the sill, with my back to the driver’s seat and right arm reaching into the footwell to put on the nuts.

The camera mounting, and wire routing are difficult at best, and you'll be ripping out your interior side panel to do it their way.
Interesting - did you go with your own different routing? If not, did it all snap back together just how it was before?

Tested it on the trail today, with the basket empty as a shakedown run, and it did fine. A little front/back motion, but nothing bad.
Front/back, as in you could "feel" the weight of it all? Or it actually moves to and fro a bit while still secured?

Great review, thanks a ton for sharing, I've been eyeballing it since before it was available. What do you think of the bumper itself? Lights wire up easy?
