Tazer JL vs Mini

So I have a regular Tazer JL on order and I noticed a mini version out. What benefits/disadvantages does the mini provide over the regular Tazer JL, i.e. what does a one part design gain/lose over the original?

I'd be the type to leave in the module for the life of the vehicle, barring any issues due to the module.

The Tazer JL utilizes a gateway bypass module and the actual Tazer that plugs into the OBDII port the mini utilizes just a gateway bypass module and Tazer all in one unit so the OBDII port is open, basically they do the exact same thing but the mini is tucked in out of site under the dash and nothing lugged into the OBDII port

Since the Tazer JL and the Tazer JL Min are both priced at $329.00,

I can see absolutely no reason at all why would someone go with the Tazer JL instead of the Tazer JL Mini. Makes no sense at all to me...

Yes, they both do the exact same things but have different foot prints..

Yeah that's what I'm thinking, contemplating trying to exchange for the mini now...

Same here... almost wish he was charging more for the mini so I wouldn’t want it.

One reason a guy / gal might want a Tazer JL verses a Tazer JL Mini is if he/she only has a desktop computer.

A guy / gal that has a laptop, can take the laptop out to their JL and hook up the laptop to the Mini and do a firmware update, etc. right there.

The person that does not have a laptop, would have to disconnect the Mini, and take it in to the desktop for a firmware update, etc..

A guy / gal with a Tazer JL can just easily, unplug the Tazer JL from the OBDll port and take it to the desktop for firmware updates, etc.. no fooling with the two gateway connectors. 8-)

As us old guys know, getting too, fooling with those two gateway connectors, can be a pain in the friggin arse.

And yes, not me, but there are many that do not own a laptop.

I got the Tazer JL Lite and upgraded to full JL with $20 warranty and the support folks told me that is the same as Mini which is a good move on ZAutomotive to do the JL Mini... make it easier.

Support told you right... a fully enabled Tazer JL Lite and the Tazer JL Mini are one of the same. You can call what you have a Tazer JL Mini.
