home depot, in paint. dries faster n flatter, with a bit of thinner.
In hind site I believe the paint supplier gave me the right stuff if I were painting in a 70 degree booth. As it was I was painting in my 40-50 degree garage.

I did dry coats for the primer and paint and moved to wetter coats for the clear coats. The "wetter" coats setup too fast and left the nice texture. (I believe.)

you know i just thought oil based too lol almost everything is water based now. had a good painter years ago that layed down beautiful finishes. thats what he added, just a bit he would say.

The biggest PITA I found was the difference in paint's bases. Mixing types is bad. :headbang:

The right one makes all the difference in the world. Also, the cheaper Rustolium cans spray patterns are utter crap in comparison to good paint cans but any of them are terrible compared to professional spray guns and a ventilated booth. If you are not picky, it will not matter. If you have the slightest OCD and are looking for OEM or better results... Pay a pro for their time and expertise.

well, if anything, we at least have a resident pro on dash removal.....lol, i know its easy to sit over here and be all positive, all i can tell you from my experiences, is that you don't look too far off. what you save in not having a pro do it you spend learning how to do it yourself. Jeeps are very "do it yourself" friendly. i know that i have been frustrated on a project not gone well, ive stepped away, went thru the process in my head, if i thought, well if i did this, this and that i could most likely improve my results, then came the "is it worth it?" once i figured it wasnt i just told everyone it adds character, if i figured it was worth the trouble, i have been lucky enough that most of the time it was worth the do over.

Good morning, all. Since it’s winter, I’ll wait on soft top til spring.
Meanwhile, getting ready to order the ACE rock sliders. I emailed them to see if forum members get a discount. Anyone knows?

From another thread, you might want to call and ask them?

@ACE Engineering seem to be responsive to PM's as well.

Ok, now another question:
I have a factory steel bumper on my rubicon, which I like.
To install a winch, do I need to buy it with a new bumper? Hope nobody laughs, please. Starting to think mud and dirt...what brands does everyone like? I know there are other forums, but easier to ask friends.
Heading to NC mountains this weekend, hope to find some dirt!!

Your steel bumper is made to handle the installation of a winch.

Of the three winch plates, it was the best fit. IMHO

No clearance problems with the bull bar or grill. :like:

That's Gary's actually, but all good. He won't mind if I take all his credit. ;-)
