We’ll also be taking out the euro spacers in the front bumper & getting her plastic cleaned & protected, so the damn water spot/stain issues are better before the snow & resulting salt start flying around. Touch up paint for the hinges is on the list, too. I have & am taking the door hinge protection film, but I’m still not sure if we’ll do it. We’ll see how we feel & what we get through!

As there is no "feeler" threads allowed in the "for sale" section I thought I'd pose the query here with you guys.

I like my steel bumpers as they look great and have removable end caps, but would really like some aluminum bumpers. With SEMA around the corner, I dare to get my hopes up that something will spark my interest.

That leaves me with the question: What are people paying for used front and rear OEM steel bumpers?

It was a $1295 option that may not have been the best money spent. Thoughts?
My experience is that maybe you can find a sport owner that might want them but with all the info about how crappy the rear bumper is, im not sure anyone will want it.

Good morning Lydia! I have not heard anything good about the cold air intake, and a guy who works for FCA posted that they can be detrimental as well. I would give it some thought.

Any word on yours Charles?
Nothing yet. As of this morning, I am still in D1. I read on another thread that they may not begin building the 2019s until November 1st, because of a backlog of open 2018 orders. I still check my build status twice a day though. :)

I second this. I think there’s even a Mythbusters episode that debunks them.

Hahaha! There isn't one of us 2018 owners who didn't do the exact same thing!!! :computerrage:
Well, while you're waiting, if you don't have any camping equipment (a tent, a decent sleep pad, etc.), you can spend some of that time looking for some. I doubt you'll want to drive all the way up to Ocala just to drive back home the same day! I've been doing some Google Map Recon for the area and have found several really nice primitive campsites (and free!).
If you need any links to good, inexpensive tents-n-such, just let me know.

I'm hoping for something a bit less, though that one only tips the scales at 54lbs. Impressive.

ARB dual compressor, mounted under master brake cylinder. Yup, have manifold and can air up tires or run tools. For the rear, ARB is supposed to release lockers for the new M220 rear diff this fall. However, I plan to see if the limited slip does ok before doing anything. The only good diff covers available today, are for the rubicon axles. Couldn’t find any I liked for the Sport axles, not yet. So, I bought MetalCloak read diff skid plates instead. They arrived at the house today. But I’m traveling for work.
I'm not a fan of the current covers myself and may also get the MetalCloak skids. Grats on the ARB bits. The ability to air up anytime is a strong draw for the onboard compressor. I like using the CO2 tank, but it's only useful if I brought it and it's not empty.

My experience is that maybe you can find a sport owner that might want them but with all the info about how crappy the rear bumper is, im not sure anyone will want it.
I agree, though there may be some few that don't wheel hard and still want the OEM look.

Nubia question: why aluminum? Lighter, but not as sturdy as steel, I would think.
That's right. It's more to save weight as lighter rigs are nimbler rigs. I added over 110lbs to have a winch and will add more for skids so I want to shed weight where I can.

I second this. I think there’s even a Mythbusters episode that debunks them.
I wouldn't recommend the intake either, but there are still many who like them for the sound. A buddy of mine likes the snorkel for it's looks.

lol, I know. I remember seeing all the posts about checking the status multiple times a day and laughing about it. Thinking to my myself, I won't do that. Wrong! lol :giggle:

I'm glad you reminded me about the camping gear, as my tent definitely needs to be replaced. I will definitely add that to my Christmas list. Ultimately, I'd like to eventually get a little off-road camping trailer.

Way, way lighter. Offsets the weight of adding winch, lights, etc. on the front. In the words of my Jeep guy, where ever you can drop weight, do it.

The two things on strength, first the aluminum they use is quite strong. Secondly, the winch plate is steel and thus heavy and strong. So, you still get the strength of steel that connects to the frame, that holds the winch, and that connects the drings. Where you want the strength, it’s steel. Outside of the winch plate, the aluminum is thick, and appears to be stronger than you would think, and it’s all additional, as some people run stubby’s. ;)

The vast majority of the 54 pounds is the steel winch plate, and dring connectors, the bumper itself, I could pick up with 2 fingers.

Thanks, the idea seems cool, I hope practice matches the theory. There are a few people in this forum that have this setup, and they have pics. I will add pics when I get home and get the Jeep on Friday. One of my Jeep buddies has the CO2 container, and he likes it. I didn’t like the idea of having to carry that along, vs the compressor mounted and permanent.

So I don't even have to keep my Warn winch plate? That 54lbs includes it? Nice. B-)
Correct, the bumper comes with the below:
https://www.extremeterrain.com/barricadeoy-series-aluminum-front-bumper-2018-jl.html
  • Front Bumper
  • 4mm Thick Aluminum Construction
  • 5mm Thick Steel Winch Plate
  • 10mm Thick D-Ring Mounts
  • (2) 3/4" D-Rings Included
  • Black Powder Coat Finish
So, the winch plate is included, and required as it is how the bumper and drings connect to the frame. Your Warn winch plate cannot be used with this bumper, you have to use the included winch plate. And yes, the bumper itself is way lighter than 54 pounds, in the video on that site, he picks the bumper up alone with 2 fingers, the 54 pounds is mostly the winch plate and drings, they are steel as well for recovery.
