So I'm close to closing deal on a 2018 JL Unlimited. The dealer is going to install wheels / tires and a 2" lift. I'm thinking of going 32's. I don't want to go "as big as I can". I am just curious of others with a similar look to get a good idea on if it's the stance I'm wanting. Opinions welcome. . . .

Looking at the Nitto Trail Grappler 285/55R20 so actual height is 32.60 and width of 11.69 just fyi. . . .

There is no need to lift for that size tire. Keep the jeep stock height if you plan on that size.

I have 32" duratracs on mine and just ordered a 2" lift to put on next week. While a lift isn't needed to fit 32 and even up to 33's on a JL there is still advantages of additional clearance and articulation room. Also to go up tire size later if you choose. And it just aesthetically looks better. I used photo shop to modify a profile photo of mine to better visualize
ow it will look.

I went with the Rubicon Express 2" lift with shock extension. See how I feel about the height and see what sort of hit my MPG takes. With my JL being my daily driver I want to maintain a good bit of it's road performance and fuel economy. Crawling isn't my thing, but we'll see how it does and if I like it enough I'll go and upgrade to a suspension lift instead of spacer. Last jeep I had was a JKUR with about 4 inch of lift and 35" tires. MPG was just too affected by that set up.

That's kind of where I'm at, I want a little more but not too much. DD 50 miles every day so the MPG is a factor also.

You're doing nothing but adding to a more unstable center of gravity with probably worse components than OEM. It's your money, but there is no reason to lift a JL for 32" tires.

I got my lift installed. Not much difference in ride compared to stock but. It makes the stance look much better. Without a lift the jeep has a squatting appearance. Will see what sort of effect it has on the MPG and go from there in terms of eventually going to a larger tire and suspension lift.

There are other reasons for someone lifting their jeeps other than clearance for a specific sized tire. from a stance and aesthetic view point it just looks better to a lot of people. I find the stock JL on sports and Sarahas to have a squatting appearance with a saggy rear end do to the rake in the design.

I can say personally that I will most likely move up to a larger tire size and full suspension lift. I'm not personally wanting to just jump into oversized tires and huge lift as on my previous JK. I want to find the build balance between on and off road driving that suits my preferences best.

Personally I think it looks goofy when someone lifts a vehicle and doesn't adjust tires accordingly. Reminds me of a body builder who neglects their legs.

You do realize the JL Rubicon is lifted 1-1/2 more than the sport from the factory- and has 32" tires right?

285/70r17s are 33s and considerably larger than the tires on the other models.

The stock BFG tires on the rubicon are 33's (285/70/R17) and it has the high top front fenders as well. According to some, it is unnecessary to have a lift for this size tires on a JL. Really just a matter of personal preference and tastes.

I stand corrected on the tire size, my comment was directed at NFRs2000NYC
"You're doing nothing but adding to a more unstable center of gravity."

Well you can fit Rubicon takeoff suspension, wheels and tires and accomplish the same thing as the factory. (yes, I know Rubi axles are wider also)
