I couldn't find the post where someone was saying the sport comes with a Dana 35 rear. I told them it's a 44, they said 44 is only an option. Is this true? The only thing the BP site says is 3rd Generation Dana Axle.

Putting a Rubicon sticker on a non Rubicon is like padding your bra or stuffing a sock in your pants
Just remember to put the sock in the FRONT if you go that route.

For those who want Rubicon but have little use for the main Rubicon features, some enterprising person should start selling "Rubicon" hood stickers, would make a fortune. :)

You can buy one of those "Turbo" stickers on EBay and save yourself $3,499.00 while you're at it...

Whoa, looks like there's a lot of sticker shock going on here but what can we do, the prices are what they are. lol
And in reality, the pricing is not bad at all, the value is certainly there!

Back on topic, My Rubicon build is around $4-6k higher than my Sport S build (4dr, 3.6 manual). Between the 2, it's a slam dunk to go Rubi. HOWEVER... add the diesel with the mandatory auto tranny upcharge and the Sport S starts to look like the one for me. Should come in around the same price as the Rubi. $50k+ is not an option, so Rubi diesel is out. Here's hoping that #1, the Sport will be available with the 3.0, and that at least the rear axle upgrade is included. Final thought here is that I'm really leaning toward the JT, and the truck likely gets the rear D44 regardless of engine. Also, can get Punk'n metallic with black interior in Sport S.

All JL axles have been upgraded from JK. Jury is still out whether they are "better". We've seen JL Dana 30 (M186) front, Dana 35 (M200) rear, Dana 44 (M210) front and Dana 44 (M220) rear, but these are not the same axles as previous generations. So although they may share the same nomenclature they are different axles from their ancestors.

But yes, the Sport and Sahara come with a "Dana 35" rear axle unless you upgrade to limited slip differential. Then you get the rear limited slip diff, rear "Dana 44" and All Terrain tires for $595. Still left with a "Dana 30" front axle.

Rubicon
M210 wide front
M220 wide rear

Sahara & Sport
M186 front
M200 rear
M220 rear with limited slip diff option.

Happens all the time, found a fake 09 Rubi at a dealer (not a CDJR dealer) who wanted Rubicon prices and advertised it as such. I confronted him about the VIN not being a real Rubi VIN, and the fact that it had sport axles and a non Rubi dash layout...no electric sway bar.....he shrugged it off and said it was some kind of mistake.
There's an Indiana Jeep lot who seems to throw Rubicon stickers on half their Wranglers. I've considered reporting them to the state for fraud, but they don't advertise them as Rubicons on the website, so it's probably just scummy, not actually illegal.

The Sahara was the only one that had a 3,500 tow rating. All the others were listed as 2,000. I will go with an auto ONLY if it is mandatory for towing or for Selec-Trac. The configurator did not force a change to automatic transmission. My 1st pass through the configurator was $52K before sanity took hold.

JL Rubicon on order
I built this JLU on the Jeep site for $33,605. Sport, manual trans, hardtop, up-rated rear axle, block heater, floor mats. (Add $2000 for auto trans.)

Find a deal on choice of aftermarket wheels/tires and you will have a lot of fun in this vehicle, it will take most people wherever they want to go in top/doors off style.

For those who want Rubicon but have little use for the main Rubicon features, some enterprising person should start selling "Rubicon" hood stickers, would make a fortune. :)

All 2 doors have 2,000 and all 4 doors have 3,500.

Sahara only offered in 4 door.

You have to click the little drop arrow to select and build a 4 door Sport, Sport S or Rubicon.

Okay, knowing that the online configurator is off on the limited slip diff option will somebody let me know if my math is correct on this? If so I think I have my mind made up and enough information to walk in to my dealer and order pretty soon.

Sahara, automatic, black hard top, limited slip diff, select trac, LEDs, HD tow group, infotainment group.
MSRP - 44,615
Invoice - 41,948

Adding leather and cold weather options brings the totals to 47,005 and 44,043 respectively.

Maybe the upgraded LED light package will keep some of these toolbags from driving around with the fog lights on all the time! Every time I see a JK with the fog lights on, when no fog is around I just want to hit them with the fog lights on my TJ.:mad:
