Looking back, there's always something we'd change.

Maybe it's a mod you wish you skipped, something you wish you'd done sooner, or a lesson you learned the hard way.

If you were building your Jeep again from day one, what's the first thing you'd do differently?

I'd uncheck the option for the AEV fuel cell. We've never used it and it makes the rear window pretty well impossible to see through. But then again, maybe we'll someday make a trip to the Arctic?

Swap black leather seats for tan. Black can get brutal in SW desert sun.
Didn't think that one through. Even after selecting Bright White specifically for desert sun.

Wish I skipped the alpine stero but otherwise ordered exactly what I wanted.

I probably wouldn’t get black again..I got a black Jeep this go ‘round because my TJ in high school was black, but I never wheeled it like I have this one. I was super close to getting white..should’ve done that. But I really like red too… so… 🤷‍♂️

As much as I love my 2dr sport 6MT. I would have test driven an automatic and probably ended up with the ‘41 color in an automatic 2dr sport. Driving my JLUR with the V6 8spd on the trail is much better. I haven’t had it in the rocks like I have with my 2dr but from other’s experience, it sounds like just having the automatic in the rocks is a game changer!

This is really interesting! Is there any stigma around trail riding in an automatic vs a manual? From what we've seen, if you're getting on the trail, wheeling is wheeling and the community is really welcoming - wondering if it's just a Canadian thing haha!

Did you realize you needed a winch on the trail, or did you avoid wheeling until you had the winch and bumper setup?
While both being an adult and smart and being a dumbass I got myself stuck real good on a random dirt road in South Carolina. Had just rained REAL good the day before so it was muddy and just a slippery mess, got to a point where it just turned into a slop field and decided to turn around, well about 1/4mi later I slid off the side and just to the rear axle and had to get pulled out. Was a fun detour home from a trip for sure.

funny thing about built rigs...they still get stuck, you're just deeper & further into dooh-dooh. I used to have a somewhat built 80 series Landcruiser and I did my level best to ruin that fine automobile in my younger days by throwing everything I could at it. I've learned now to turn around and redirect my course to more peaceful paths when available...

Oh for sure, I was VERY stock still back then too. But the bumper and winch would have gotten me out and avoided the $400 recovery fee I had to pay since I was so far from people I knew lol.

one night I took that Land Cruiser out to the trails after a few too many and put it partially into a pond...snapped a 12k Superwinch cable twice trying to get unstuck and ended up abandoning it and coming back the next day with a D9 dozer with hydraulic winch for recovery. Yeah, that was just a Tyesday night back in tha day...I've done some dumb stuff over the years for sure...
