It seems the 3m rubber/foam dot and tightening the lever have done the trick for now. purposely picked some bumpy-ass roads and got no tapping sounds. Will probably clean the seals really good right around fall time, as after that, the panels will be on for a while...
I picked up some similar dots from Home Depot today. Did you put the dots on each of the black dots on the freedom panels or just the one closest to where you heard the plastic sound?

I tried that and it does help with a stronger grip but it also lifts the freedom panel up a little and the problem I'm trying to remedy is bring that back right corner down. I think I need to adjust the front two torx bolts on the bracket and try to see if that helps. Not sure though I just know its isolated to the driver side freedom panel because when I put my hand on top it quiets down

Would you be able to take a picture of the freedom panel seal at the corner of the door frame? My driver side seal looks different from the passenger side and I'm wondering if that's whats causing my issue. Here are my drivers side and passenger side seals, respectively:

The passenger side seal is formed correctly, the driver side appears to be indented. it's fairly pliable, can you "pop" it out?

I tried putting those dots on the contact points for the panel. I thought it worked but the clicking noise came back. I think mine might be coming from the plastic that is attached to the roll bar. Not sure though.

Check your freedom panel seals. My driver's side is messed up so the dealer is ordering an entirely new freedom panel seal that runs along the length of the windshield. I posted pictures in this thread:

I hit up some of those plastic roll-bar pieces when i was adding dots to the top... Never thought I'd want the foam and fabric roll-bar pieces back (JK model), but at least they didn't make noises like these hard plastics do!

I've had a few rattles & squeaks from my B pillars (posts right next to and just behind the driver and passenger seats) -- most noticeable on bumpy roads.

My first problem was narrowed down to those plastic rain gutter covers. Both have made noise here and there, and both have been found to be loose. At first, I just pushed on them a bit and the noise went away ... but it returned later. They adhere to the sides of the hard top with double-sided foam strips, but they don't seem to hold very well.

The panels pull off pretty easily, so I'm either going to just leave them off, or I'll have to get some better foam stickies or some strong double-sided weather stripping. BTW, you can get them off with your hard top on, but the roll bar is kind of in the way, so it's much easier to work on them with your hard top off so that you can access the area better.

Left image shows where the panel came from; right pic shows the inside of the panel, which has some foam stickies missing because they're stuck on the inside of the hard top:

Second problem was a squeak/rattle coming from one corner of the passenger's Freedom panel. Specifically, the rear corner on the door side. I stuck one of those foam dots like a previous person suggested (great idea, BTW), and it made the fit a bit more snug. But when I lightly pushed the panel (after closing everything up), there was still a noticeable squeak. After messing around with it for a few minutes, I located the problem area: The piece of black foam (blue arrow in the following pic) was rubbing up against the hard white plastic (red arrow) and making this awful squeak noise. So I stuck a large circular plastic/rubber dot over that corner, locked everything down, and that seemed to eliminate the noise. With the tighter fit, I wasn't able to make it squeak anymore by pushing up on the panel.

It's hard to see the rubber sticker that I stuck on the corner in the following photo because it's clear, so I circled it in red:

I think I've fixed my squeaks and rattles for now. Hopefully this will help someone else with a similar problem(s). I'll probably keep some of those dots in the glove box from now on.

Now, if I can only fix my creaky clutch pedal ...

you have a two-door, correct? I don't think 4-doors have that white drain line cover as theirs is built into the black B-pillar.

I have a 2dr with the same loose drain line cover (on both driver and passenger side). I just keep pushing it back on. It lasts a while but when going off road it starts rattling again. Not a very good design.

Yes, I have a 2-door. I forgot to include that detail!

Yeah, they're kind of an afterthought. As far as I can tell, those covers are only cosmetic (you can't even really see them from the front seats), so I may just leave them off for now. The next time I have my hard top off, I'll take a closer look. Like I mentioned before, some double-sided sticky weather stripping might solve the problem.

It's looking like we'll need to have adhesive felt/protective dots on hand as we keep finding these noises!

Yes, cosmetic, but why take off and not put back on......... makes little sense to me.

I think I was the first to post info on these covers, the rattling, 3 months ago.

I tried to use better double sided tape, etc. but it would not hold. Would last a week or so and then they would be loose and rattling again.

I ended up using some Goop Flexible Epoxy ( applies easy and drys clear) to both the top and the bottom of each cover. The flexible epoxy did the trick. The covers are attached well now. A couple of months now and over 2 thousand miles now and they have not budged.

The Goop Flexible Epoxy can be made to let go at anytime by using a hair dryer to put heat on it.
