Since I'm running rubi springs and 35's, I was undoubtedly going to rub pretty hard with flex offroad. I actually managed to kiss one of the rear fender lips from a really big bump the other day. I'm not at a point where I can buy a full lift kit like I want, and don't want to try to piece together something for cheaper that I'm just going to replace later, so I followed @Remorseless lead and ordered up some Rough Country WF1 fender flares.

I got them in last weekend and got the fronts installed on saturday. For now, I'm running trimmed and shaped factory liners. From some hack measurements from photos (cause I forgot to actually measure, it looks like I added about 4" of tire clearance. Hopefully the rears will go on throughout the week.

Staying home with a sick kid means i got some extra jeep time, so I got the rear flares on. Like normal, i made the first one more complicated than it needed to be, so the second side took 1/3 the time and is cleaner. I remembered to measure this time and gained 4” of clearance at the fender lip, and even more inside. I think I’ve got more bump clearance now than a Rubi with stock tires, so i should be able to put off a lift for a while and focus on skids and such. Also did a quick wash and wax to get rid of a bunch of bugs and tree sap and start getting it protected for winter weather.

I am going to have to do something about this bumper/flare mismatch now. Probably going to trim the extra off as long as i won’t cut off any bracket attachment points.

Well the Barnwell trip went great. Little bit of a write up with pics and videos here:

Ready to try out Bridgeport/Northwest OHV now.
Bridgeport is fun, however there's less middle ground. It's mostly cake shit and extremely hard! 🤷‍♂️ :crying:

For that reason it's probably my least favorite park around. Crossbar is the best, but who knows what's happening with that! :fingerscrossed:!

On the plus side, if you do go to Bridgeport or Crossbar, there's a decent chance you'll get to meet the wonderful @ParadigmDawg ! :handsinair:;)

Got it. I've got a buddy with a Nissan frontier pro-4x that just went out to bridgeport and had a good time. Might go out there with him sometime and show him what a real offroad vehicle looks like lol

I ordered an engine skid from @ASFIR4X4 yesterday and it should be here Friday. Hopefully that holds so I can get it installed this weekend. Picked up some baofeng GMRS handhelds too so I don't have to borrow them anymore.

I'm also having trouble with trying to get a carplay USB on top of the dash. Made a thread here. I'm about to rip the center console apart and pull the USB port from it all the way up to the dash.

Skid showed up yesterday and I got antsy, so I installed it last night. Pretty easy install overall. I had one lock washer that didn’t like the bolt being torqued and spread out. @yokramer reminded me that at best, lock washers don’t do anything, so I’ll probably just take it off.

I'm getting several wheeling trips planned through the fall and working on my list of stuff to get done. I think this is the order of priority, but am very open to suggestions from more experienced people.

1. New shocks - 0-1.5" 5100's OR 1.5-3" 5100's and XR springs. Mostly depends on budget and timing, shocks and springs are preferred
2. Sway bar quick disco's or rubi electric takeoff
3. Rubi sliders, maybe with a tube welded on

Any suggestions of changes to order or additional things I should consider?

Sliders first IMHO. Shocks and discos are nice, but you CAN wheel without them if funds get tight. You can wheel without sliders too (@Sean L and his Sahara's polymer sliders come to mind), but that'd be where I'd aim first were it me. Stock suspension with a little armor can go a lot of places where a light lift with no armor would be hesitant to go.

Not sure how I missed this thread. Good stuff. But, I’m bothered and need an answer. Did you raise your tennis ball parking doohickey to the correct height?

That's for my wife's car. The jeep lives in the driveway

Ok thank goodness. My Jeep is in the driveway as well so I can have all the toots and Jeep stuff minus the Jeep in the garage. My wife always has the garage worthy vehicle.
Gotta keep the wife's car warmer in winter so she doesn't get upset when i buy more jeep parts
