I think you misunderstand. Both are 0W grade and meet the same cold flow requirements.

My statement about 0w40 at 100C being the same as 0w20 at 140F was an off-the-cuff remark to illustrate that 0w40 at 100C is the same viscosity as 0w20 at some lower temperature (such as) 140F. The fact is they meet the same cold weather "winter" requirements for flow and as they both heat up, the 0w20 thins much more than 0w40 at any given temperature.
I did understand the statement. the hot cst, number after the w is a temperature sliding windows. The thing you need to understand is that oil viscosity is a simple curve not a hyperbola. The winter rating test is not about flow it is about resistance to rotation. Therefore at -31F the CST number is in the roof

I will simply pretend I'm you with 0W-20 in Quebec 😃👍

additive package should be the same in the save version of oil but in 0w30.
Did you actually got a steady UOA trend going before switching ?
No, the additive packages are very very different from each other, you can look up on BITOG VOA section

Those Mobil ESP 0w-30 interest me, didn't know there's a 0w-20?

Friend has 2017 Rubicon v6 AT 2 door and about 40k miles, he's been running full synthetic 0w-20 and adding Lucas Oil Pure Synthetic Oil Stabilizer at every oil change.

Knock on wood and so far no problems, he wheels pretty hard and daily drives it.

There's also BG Products, they are very high quality and I used their 44K (added to fuel tank) once per year in our Camry years ago and never had any valve or intake issues of sludge buildup that those engines were known for.

BGProducts also makes a wear inhibitor oil additive:

There's a 0w20, 0w30, 5w30, and 0w40 ESP. There's also M1 Supercar 0w40 which is believed to be a derivative of ESP.

Jeep Wrangler JL Ditch the 0w-20 before its too late. ESP vs Supercar

So you are telling me that the euro spec Pennzoil formula does not have the same additives package (minus viscosity modifier) between 0w30 an 0w40 ?
Yes, their additive package are very different, I will post the VOAs later. 0W-40 looks just like Ultra Platinum except it has higher zddp, while 0w30 has no Moly at all, it's just a weird chemistry. Pennzoil knows the best, but I just picked up what I was comfortable with
