Guys, this is how things look like after 25 minutes of driving on the highway in crappy Seattle rain. Things look just like on 0W-20, so I came to O'Reilly's to grab four more bottles of this good stuff 🤩

I did a careful WOT and my oil pressure stopped at 82 psi just like 0W-20. I can't believe all this.

Guys, real quick. My oil temp didn't go above 196 degrees, just like on 0W-20, despite a WOT. Now what if engineers designed the oil passages such that at 196 degrees only 0W-20 can get through. And here I am on a 0W-40 that is probably 15 centistokes at 196 degrees, a good 5 centistokes higher than 0W-20. Don't you think this could be a problem? Thank you 🙏

Yeah, probably the same as 0w20 at 140F.

I will drive on this oil for a month, then
I will mix 5 quart bottles in a big jug, shake it well and take a sample for VOA. Then I will change the oil and filter and run the oil for four months. Then will send the oil for UOA, and also will check the filter with a magnifying glass. Oh, and will order a magnetic drain plug too. If everything looks good then I will stick to this awesome oil 🤩👍

This time I will be very patient and might go upto 6 months, because I have a lot of viscosity, boatloads of additives and a crazy high TBN(10.0) so there's no need to worry about fuel thinning my oil.

That means 0W-20 at 140 degrees can make it through all passages to all parts of the engine?
this mean that I will be scraping my engine for over 15 minutes while I start it cold in a cold winter day. Ya let put it this way, nope, not happening.

But the engine has oil, so it's not scraping

sorry was to quote this one:

For me in the winter to reach the 140 it require 15 minutes to get the oil there, therefore if oil would not flow properly below that CST number mean I would be scraping my engine a lot.

You are in Quebec, right? How cold does it get there? 0W-40 Pennzoil Euro can deal with extreme cold

I think you misunderstand. Both are 0W grade and meet the same cold flow requirements.

My statement about 0w40 at 100C being the same as 0w20 at 140F was an off-the-cuff remark to illustrate that 0w40 at 100C is the same viscosity as 0w20 at some lower temperature (such as) 140F. The fact is they meet the same cold weather "winter" requirements for flow and as they both heat up, the 0w20 thins much more than 0w40 at any given temperature.

We usually get some days at -31f. I suspect 0w40 would still provide a good protection but I will not validate that theory for the moment :)
