The Old Reliable: BF Goodrich KO2.
Except rain seemed to be one of his primary concerns. KO2s are decent at just about everything but mud, but excel at nothing. But then again he's in LA, which isn't exactly known for having lots of rain.

Note that KO3s are becoming available in more and more sizes. If he was looking for off road characteristics I'd tend to suggest Mickey Thompsons (if the requirements matched up), but off roading doesn't seem to be in the equation.

@Kum4224, why do you want an A/T for the road? Is it just for the looks? We need more requirements.

What size are you looking for?

Firestone Destination AT2 are the best mild AT hands down.

Check tyrereviews.com.

Yokohamas and Nokians are very good too and come in larger sizes.

I have both the MT BB ATs in 35 for my jeep and KO3s on my wife’s Escalade and the KO3s are much louder than my soft top Jeep with 35s and no muffler. KO3s are slick in the rain just like the KO2s I also run my tires lower psi 28-30psi cold. The KO3s are C rated the MT BB ATs are E rated and I’d buy then again. I have about 7k miles on them and about 30k on the KO3s. I expected good things from the KO3s but IMO they’re no where near the MT BBs. The onroad manners of the MT BBs even with the E rated are better than what I expected. I also have the dick cepek extreme country(MT Baja Legend EXP) in a 35x12.5x15 on my Silverado with a 6” lift also quieter than the KO3s.
But what I have noticed about tires is that everyone has their own issues. Some who love the KO2/3 don’t have the issues that those who hate the ko2/3 have and same with the BB ATs. So the choice isn’t as easy because you’re going to get mixed reviews. I did a ton of research before deciding on the BB ATs and I called around to different discount tires and asked them what tires their customers were having issues with and what tires their customers were liking. I searched the forum. I did like you and asked in here what folks thought. At the time the BB ATs got an overwhelming number of positive reviews. I can’t remember a single issue that was shared about the BB AT when I got my tires.

I’m on team MT BB A/T. 30k miles driving back and forth between Baton Rouge LA and Blacksburg VA every other month. I love the tires and will buy them again.

we are running (2) sets of Nitto G3's on some larger SUV's and I believe it is one of, if not the Best AT tire available today.

I have the Baja Boss AT’s on both my JT and Grand Cherokee - I will buy them again when the time comes. I have zero complaints on the noise level and they handle amazing in sand, snow, rain and daily driving. In terms of AT tires - I have had Toyo AT3s, BFG KO2 (least favorite in rain) and Generals.

My absolute favorite on road only tire has to be the Michelin Defender Ms2. You just can’t beat the comfort, tread wear or handling for an all season tire.

Get a tire that suits your driving lifestyle. Functionality over looks will always win.
Agree! My 2020 Willys came with the Firestone Destination MT/2 which was great in the snow and rain, but the noisiest tire I ever had. I loved the looks but couldn't stand the noise. I changed to the Firestone Destination AT/2 and the Jeep drives and handles great plus you can hear a pin drop...

I'm getting alot of conflicting reviews on what is the best overall A/T for on-road driving.

I'm coming from a 35x12.50r18 Nitto Terra Grappler G2 A/T tire with a load E rating. My next move will be the same size except on a 17 inch rim.

For the longest time, I was set on the MT Baja Boss A/Ts. But a new forum search is telling me they are still pretty loud, and that the new KO3s might be better. Many are saying to go the Falken route or the Ridge Grappler route. And many are saying its hard to wear out the Baja bosses evenly without going too low on air pressure for on-road driving (any truth to that claim??)

Someone convince me to stick with MTs, or give me new suggestions.

Coming from the Terra Grapplers, I want something that is better in rain, tracks well at high speeds (70+ mph), and is quiet.

After putting ~50k miles on a set of Radar Renegade R/Ts,I was looking at swapping to Kenda Klever R/Ts. I like the aggressive look of an R/T, with the better longevity and noise over an M/T. However, due to availability, location, and time constraints with getting my new tires, I ended up with KO3s instead. I haven't had the chance to take them on any trails yet, but the wet and dry traction on road is fantastic.

While I always enjoy and appreciate the anecdotal reviews of tires, I think you should do two things:

1. Goto a tire review site with hundreds (maybe thousands?) of reviews. In aggregate it will give you a very good idea of the strengths and weaknesses of each tire.

2. Try to drive in a Jeep with the tires you intend to buy before you actually buy them.

All that being said I have the Wildpeaks and would buy them again. Very quiet on the road and very capable on sand and dirt. No issues in the rain..

I have the pizza cutter BB AT 255/85/17 load E - running at 30PSI. No complaints. The only "issue" is to make sure you balance them at a shop that has "road force balancing" option. Due to thicker bead, some shops aren't balancing them correctly and people are complaining they are not working correctly when driven. Not a tire issue, but more of a shop issue (I contacted BB and they said that is usually the issue)

I just bought a set of MT Baja Boss A/Ts a few months ago. Meanwhile my gf bought MT Baja Legends MTZ's. We both have 2D JL Rubicons and went to Rausch creek. My Jeep simply could NOT keep up. I got stuck in the mud immediately (kind of expected with A/Ts) while hers did not. Also on the rocks my Jeep couldn't get traction while hers would drive right up.

Turns out the Mickey Thompson BB A/Ts are made of a different compound than their other M/Ts. I have since sold my A/Ts (with only 2k miles on them) to buy MT Baja Boss M/Ts. They feel perfectly fine on road, and have performed MUCH better offroad. I would recommend the M/Ts all day (they are definitely quieter than the MTZ Legends).

I have the MT Baja Boss Legend EXP. quieter than the BB, compare how tight they made the center lugs on the middle of the tire for quite road manners and still has the side-biter chunky lugs on the outside for off road. They have been great in rain, sand and mud.

I have 315/70r17 Toyo RT Trails and they are great all rounders. They arent 4 peak rated but drive so well on and off road. Load range D on mine they sidewalls are a bit soft imo.

If you are stressing quiet and comfort, the milder Toyos or Cooper Discovery series should fit the bill.
