Has anyone else had issues with the Jeep branded tool kit that comes with your jeep rusting? I was storing it next to the scissor jack in the trunk.

Any signs of water and or silt in that cubby? Is the small opaque drain at the bottom of that area still intact and free of debris. My rear window leaks very slightly from wiring mods I’ve done and water ends up in that area. I stopped storing the tool kit in there and put any stuff in zip loc bags that I was concerned about. That looks like more than normal surface rust from moisture in the air.

No signs of water. The scissor jack is not rusted at all. But I figure it has to be open to the air some how. I do live where it snows so I am sure road salt has helped it rust so badly. I will be keeping it in a ziplock from now on after I get the rust off. Thanks!

Maybe a light coating of oil on the tools and make sure the zip loc isn’t actually trapping moisture. I’m in a desert adjacent climate with no road salt so I probably shouldn’t be giving you advice.

none here, 2019 JL 2 door.
Since I've owned it (March, 2025) it stays out of the weather.

That seems very excessive. I'm in Maryland where it's quite swampy over the summer and wet other times and mine still look brand new. I would try and look for signs of a leak - that appears it sat soaked for a while and not just surface rust.

Same happened to me - they were sitting in a small pool of water from a tipped over water jug. Still works fine, but ugly/rusty now :(

There's usually some slight water intrusion (couple of drops) in there from the high-pressure spray carwashes (brushless.....I wouldn't take any car I owned through a spinning-brush carwash)

I'd keep it out of that cubby and put someplace inside the cab of the Jeep

Toss in a few Silica Gel Packs, if things keep getting wet you have a bigger issue than just condensation.

Yeah with all the trail pin striping you would want to ruin your patina

I keep mine in the glovebox and it's not rusty, but I can't speak for the T50 bit from the kit that's stuck inside the door sill 🤣

No. My kit will be 5 years old in October, and it still looks new. I too store it in the jack cubby.

New kits are sold on Amazon, if interested.
