I just went from my stock rubicon 33s to a 315/70/17 on a wheel with negative offset.

now my backup camera is partially blocked by the wheel/tire and parksense beeps even if there is nothing behind me

Anyone know of any solutions to this? Maybe some sort of bracket to extend the backup camera?

I eliminated the problem with a TF adjustable carrier. Adjustable back and up, plus the camera sticks out a little further, the 3’rd light also relocated to the tire center. But I believe there is an XR camera extension but don’t know how much offset it will compensate for.

After looking online I could only find ones that were for aftermarket tire carriers.

I might try my hand at extending it on my own. Maybe with some pvc pipe and 3d printed bits. That is if no one knows of one that works with the stock carrier. I’ll

I need to raise the spare too. The Teraflex Alpha was ~$350, but worth it IMO, the spare back to the stock snubbers with -1mm wheels and adjusted up to just above the bumper with no camera sensor issues. Those with the reinforcement can adjust the tire back to it, no snubbers.

This will not fix the sensors though. Teraflex alpha is highly recommended. You can also get adjustment kits which raise the spare a couple inches that might move it out of range.

Is it the sensors on the bumper? Interesting that they would be affected by the tire, but I guess if it sticks out further they. Might see them

Yes it is the sensors on the bumper. The camera has nothing to do with the proximity sensors. They emit a cone shaped signal and it's getting clipped by the bottom of your tire.

Button on the dash to turn that obnoxious beeping off works great.

Not sure if it has anything to do with your situation, but when I put larger tires/new wheels on I had issues with the park sensor as well, turned out for me it was the TPMS sensor throwing them off. Make sure your valve stem is up (between 10 and 2) when you have it on your carrier.....

FWIW, we just put 315s on our JLU sport and I used the Rough Country spare tire relocation bracket to move the spare up/out and have no issues with the camera or bumper sensors. Our tires are on the stock wheels though. We also have the Mopar tailgate reinforcement kit. You can see a bit of the tire at the bottom of the camera, but it's not enough to negatively affect visibility.

The spare tire relocation bracket might help get the tire up enough that it's not triggering the bumper sensors. Not sure about an extension for the camera though. How badly is it affecting the view?

@shaneh890 Care must be used for the ~15 lb RC steel relocation. I have a new unused $75 one in the garage after realizing it would put me over 100 lbs and reinforcement needed. Got the TF $150 aluminum featherweight ones that served well until the negative offset wheels. …. And bought the $350 Alpha…..: I don’t recommend ending up with a $575 Alpha, do it right the first time, it’s much cheaper, saves work doing it just once too.

I had a similar issue when I rotated by 35 inch XR tire and wheels. Once the TPMS sensor was in the 12:00 position, no more problems.

it's worth swapping a park assist module from an xtreme recon package'd vehicle and see if it helps. they have different software to account for the 35s.

my 24 392 even had an update to help assist with it

Good callout on the overall weight on the tailgate. Our JLU already had the Mopar tailgate reinforcement kit when we bought it, otherwise I would have probably gone with the full TeraFlex kit. Even with a light weight tire mount I don't think I would trust the tailgate long term with a 35" spare without a full tailgate reinforcement kit though.

I was originally going to go with the TeraFlex relocation kit except they said it wasn't compatible with the Mopar tailgate reinforcement kit. I knew that the RC one works with the Mopar kit so that's what we ended up with. Very happy with it so far though. But yeah, it's a heavy piece. I think it weighs more than the factory tire mount itself.
