Hi all,

Recently purchased a 21 rubicon and I'm looking at different options for gaining some clearance.

I know you can fit 35s on the stock rubi, but if anyone is running that do you get any rubbing when the sway bar is disconnected? If so how much?

Eventually I would like to also add a lift kit, but for now Im thinking staying stock suspension and just upgrading the tires when the current 33s wear out. I would be looking at some K03s if that makes a difference as Ive heard they run a little small.

Hey 👋
2022 JLURD upgraded to 35's no lift
No rubbing, although I don't do much Offroading
Here's images below difference between factory 33 & new 35
Hope this helps

I put on
ICON REBOUND SLX 1917857345CH 17x8.50" 5x5 4.5" -6mm and
LT315/70R17 - All-Terrain T/A KO2® - BFGoodrich® Tires
on my 21 JLU Rubicon .

No lift. Slight rub on the fender liners only on extreme articulation.

Love the more aggressive "Stock like" look. Drivability/MPG degraded on road a bit but is unquestionably better off road. Tires extend beyond the fenders so they do throw mud and rocks more than stock.

Stock suspension on a 24 jlu 4xe. 315/70/17 KO3’s
I also added the XR plastic extensions to the fenders, fairly cheap to help with thrown road debris..

not enough rub to do any damage? Im not worried about a little bit of rub, I just dont want to be ripping off a fender lol

Rub only, no threat of ripping things off (at least without getting the entire Jeep at risk of damage!)

DO NOTE that the wheels are offset out relative to stock. I was told that could have put the tires on the stock rims ONLY with spacers (which are not legal in Massachusetts)

Orange one isn't mine, I found the picture when deciding to upgrade to 35s.
First picture (day) is with the lift just on the front
Second is the 2 inch mopar lift installed with 33 inch tires
last red picture is the final outcome

Longer mopar LCAs
Rock Krawler spring correction pads
Rock Krawler rear track bar relocation bracket
Rancho front geometry brackets
Rancho front track bar (got a good clearance deal on it)
315/70r17 k02 tires from DiscountTire (they had them for $270 a piece)

Rock Slide engineering side steps
dynatrac ball joints

Stock brake lines are borderline not long enough and either need longer ones or a different bracket, at full droop the front brake lines are taught.

Also the 305 size tires fit great on the stock rubicon rims

I have the mopar beadlock capable wheels in 17 x 7.5w.
prior to these rims, I was using the stock rims that come on the 4xe, again in 17x7.5.

Spacers are absolutely not required.

I believe that the Mopar Beadlock Rims are 12mm offset vs 44mm for the stock Rubicon 2021. (I also think the effective offset changes based on if you install them as true beadlocks or as "road mount".) This is why I am very careful to state the tires and rims when sharing my experiences with rub on an unlifted Rubicon.

It has been a few years but I believe I was told that 35s at low pressure on stock rims would tear up their inner sidewalls in the rear by making contact with something in the suspension.

It sounds like Eticket1337 has not had a problem on stock rims. If someone out there has had trouble on a Rubicon with stock rims Please speak up.

I've recently upgraded to 35's., stock Rubicon no lift yet. I do plan to get a lift next year but I've had no issues so far off-road flexing on the rocks. I've not noticed any rubbing or any real issues with these 35's Falken Wildpeak AT4W.

I ran 315/70s on the stock suspension and wheels and found that I was rubbing on my sway bar and lower control arm.

I moved to a -12 offset wheel and it works great. Some rear fender run at extreme articulation , but liveable.

If you don't mind skinny tires you could do 255/85-17 on stock wheels. they are actually just a little taller than 35's but only 10" wide so less rubbing. they are not for everyone tho.

Mopar beadlock are 17x8, at least on the XR. It's not recommended to run wider 35s on the stock 17x7.5. I know people do it all the time but tire manufacturers say 8" wheels.

the beadlock capable wheels come in both sizes, 7.5 and 8 (on the xr package). I have the 7.5’s from my friends 392 that came with 33’s. Check discount tire, they do state 7.5 minimum for these. Also, there isn’t a consistent ‘Size’ as different manufacturers tires are slightly Different widths, weight and heights.

And I know manufacturers say only use 8 or above on certain sizes, but they can’t offer something that ‘might’ cause an issue and then get sued. They also say keep X psi in them, but we don’t do that either for the most part.

I ran with no problems the following
33 KO2’s. (Stock oem tires)
35/10.5/17 Falken wildpeak a/t4w
315/70/17 Toyo Open Country ATIII
and settled on
315/70/17 BFG KO3’s.

Thanks for listening.
