So look like the real cost of policy is starting to show.
Wonder where E-fuel fit in all this

Note the use of the word “Combustion” in the “Advanced Clean Fleets” bill.
Are not Hydrogen and E-fuel “Combustion” engines ?

How hard would it be for jeep to start selling a small 2 door truck electric with 100 plus mile range. Use that to offset the fuel mileage of the fleet and start selling us hemi wranglers for cheaper. It is win win.

Nice try- see the new 27-32 emissions standards, along with fleet mpg average raised to 38 mpg by 2032.

I did not read the “Advanced Clean Fleets” bill. Was referring to EU allowing the sell of E-fuel car pass 2035. So the fact they need to meet EV number is kind of defeating the purpose.

I guess the wind of change will be coming at some point.

I just posted part of the bill, unless E-fuel and Hydrogen get an exemption they would be included as “Combustion” engines for that and all regulations using it…… a carefully chosen word ?

I guess I can dream. I really don't think a 5.7 in a 2 door jeep would get that must worst fuel mileage than the 3.6, but maybe I'm wrong. A 30k small electric truck is the answer to a lot of these manufacturers problems, but none want to make one because they want to sell 80k trucks.

The T-6 GW getting a whole 1 mpg better than the 392 tells the story. If you want power, it will be electrified.
but I did notice the reports of the GC being 4cyl or 4Xe only were incorrect, V6 available, still no T-6, so essentially the same for power.

Actually I do not think they use the word combustion in the real document but emission.
In any case we are not talking the same legislation, you are talking about California and I'm talking about European Union.

I got it, but I live in Ca. and Ca. being allowed to set it’s own CARB standards with 18 willing accomplices it essentially set the national standards, with rare and typically short lived exceptions like this 22 392. That went 50 state late 22 after all the non 50 state parts were used.

Quote was from Ca.gov- Governor Gavin Newsom

Now 18 states + DC.
Ca is now after the transportation industry.
Per Ca.gov- Governor Gavin Newsom
California became the first jurisdiction in the world today to end the sales of traditional combustion trucks by 2036- moving the state forward on Governor Gavin Newsom’s ambitious plan to dramatically cut pollution, protect public health and accelerate the transition to clean vehicles, CARB also approved first-in-the-nation regulation to limit train pollution.

Known as Advanced Clean Fleets, the new rule puts the state on a path toward accomplishing Governor Newsom’s goal of fully transitioning the medium and heavy-duty trucks that travel California’s roads to zero emissions technology by 2045……………….
• Drayage trucks (ie big rigs), local delivery and government fleets must transition by 2035;
• Garbage trucks must be zero emission by 2039;
• All other vehicles covered by the regulation must be zero-emission by 2042;
……… BS………..

This adds to California’s Advanced Clean Trucks rule, approved by the Biden administration last month , which requires manufacturers …………..BS…….
Some (in other states) are actually benefitting from this. At least temporarily.

I had a new well drilled recently, and the owner of the company who did this said that he was able to get a very nice new drill rig truck (with big diesel drill engine) for a knock-down bargain price in California because the drillers out there were being forced to “go green” and sell off their diesel rigs.

I'm fine with EVs.

But I'd get a good laugh if Stellantis really listened to what LITERALLY ALL OF THEIR CUSTOMERS WANT (according to jlwranglerforums.com regulars) and just gave everything a diesel engine with no emissions controls whatsoever. And then just sold it.

Come on, 22 states that don't care about car emissions, show us what paradise looks like.

In a related story “Companies are leaving Ca” . Ca isn’t satisfied with regs for just new equipment, years ago with particulate mufflers Ca required retrofit for older diesels. My Pete’s stacks had to be removed and replaced with a weed burner particulate one. The retrofits did not regen and had to be removed and cooked in a kiln for many hours causing typically 2 days downtime…… They even were required for the refrigeration units on older trailers. 🤬

This is a look into the not too distant future here in the US. The government needs to quit manipulating private industry.
My gut feeling on this is, that this will change for the better, very soon!
