I just ordered the Tactik T-743 and am wondering if they will rub when clocked all the way? The wheels are 17x9 with 5in backspacing and 0 offset. I have a 2021 Sport with a 3in lift running Toyo Open Country RT 315/70r/17.

I've been trying to research this on my own but trying to figure out the math and people saying different things it is hard to get a clear answer. Thanks for the help.

A 9” rim is 10” wide (measuring outside to outside. - The 9” designation comes from measuring the rim where the tire sits.)

Backspace is measured from the mounting surface to the inboard facing wheel lip.

Offset is the measurement between the wheel mounting surface and the wheel center line.

Your example is 10” wide with a 5” backspace = Zero Offset. (Wheel mounting surface is at center line).

Knowing the dimensions of the currently installed wheels would allow you to take measurements on your Jeep and use that as a starting point. (A decreased back space would increase inboard clearances etc.)

Hope this helps.

With a Back Spacing of 5.2 to 4.5, you should not have any issues.

You may want to keep in mind the Scrub Radius as well...

So I just got back from my mechanic and he suggested I don’t mount them yet. He’s concerned the 0 offset will cause the front tires to rub on the draglinks. The current wheels are -12 offset. He knows more about JKs but he advised to wait to mount it since I won’t be able to return once mounted. What’s everyone’s thoughts on this? I’ve seen these tactiks mounted on JLs so is he just being overly cautious or should I look for new wheels?

Thanks for your reply, just one quick question. I just got back from my mechanic, and he suggested I don’t mount them yet. He’s concerned the 0 offset will cause the front tires to rub on the draglinks. The current wheels are -12 offset. I'm running 35's or else he said it wouldn't be an issue. He admittedly knows more about JKs but he advised to wait to mount it since I won’t be able to return once mounted. Thinking of either a spacer or getting different wheels if this turns out to be the case. Or is he just being overly cautious, and they can mount up no problem?

Thanks for the info. The concern my mechanic has is that the wheels will rub on the drag links. My current set up is -12 offset on 35 in tires and I'm wanting to switch to 0 offset on the same tires. This will cause the tires to shift further into the wheel well a half inch which he's worried it could rub on the drag links when fully turned.

Thanks, that does look great. So even though im on the narrower sport axles should still be no problem?

Side note, thanks for the pic, I've been looking for a good front/side view of the steel Rubicon bumper to show my wife.

Edit: my mechanic is from a reputable 4x4 shop in the area. It certainly seems like he knows what he's talking about, but I don't know what I'm talking about so maybe I'm just being fooled? lol. They've got some really nicely built Jeeps at the shop, even a Rubicon with tons on them. He admitted he knows more about JK's and is just being overly cautious, which I appreciate instead of him just throwing anything on for the money. It looks like at full turn right now with the -12 I have about "a finger or two" of room from the drag links. So the 0 sound like it really will be a perfect fit.

Rubicon axles are 1.5" wider than Sport 0.75” each side
so your 0 offset wheels will fit with no problem..
