Hello everyone first time post here!

I have a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon on order (ordered 5/5/21) which is my first time ever getting a brand new vehicle or a Rubicon. I have been reading these forums like crazy for information about the new JL's and lift kits, tires, wheels etc. I am coming from a 2016 JK sport which we absolutely love but excited about the upgrade!

I have decided that I will be having the dealer install the Mopar lift (which I understand will most likely net me more than 2"). I plan to add an adjustable track bar, rear track bar bracket, and the rancho control arm geometry bracket to help fix the castor. I am leaning towards Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T in either 35x12.5x17 or 37x12.5x17.

My worry and confusion, as many on here seem to have, is wheel compatibility with regards to offset and back spacing. Living in Pennsylvania the cops and inspections here a pretty strict about tires sticking out past the fenders. I have personally been pulled over in the past in certain towns around here for it and its a real PITA. This Jeep will be used primarily as a daily driver, mall crawler, trailer queen, pavement princess etc. (I used to make fun of guys like me but the cost of these new Jeeps makes it harder to justify wheeling them these days but I've had a wrangler since I was 16 and cant go back). The wheels I am looking at currently are the Fuel Hostage D531 17x8.5 +14. This leaves me with a backspacing of 5.25. I am hoping someone on here can help me confirm if these wheels with this setup will work ok without rubbing keeping in mind I wont be flexing this Jeep in crazy off road scenarios. If it rubs slightly at full flex that is fine as long as its ok while daily driving. I have read through a ton of different posts but most people are going for the wide stance look or they are modifying a wrangler that doesn't have the Rubicon axles. I believe the +14 with an 8.5 wide wheel will keep my tires from sticking out very much if at all but want to confirm with someone smarter than me that this isn't going to run me into any other issues. I really appreciate any feedback and have been having a stressful blast reading all this information on these forums!

Welcome!
I think your plan sounds pretty good, as you go taller in tire like a 37 instead of a 35 that travel arc increases so you need a bit less positive on the offset. AEV makes wheels specifically for Rubicons at a 8.5 +25 offset, but as you lift you'll need less positive on the offset. That +14 should work well w/ the 35" tire, if you go 37 or think you might in the future you may want to go to around a zero offset.
Might check the forum for those with AEV wheels on their lifted Rubicons and see pics of the fit at the fender, don't want the hassle from the law :(
Here's a thread on some of them

And another two w/ just about what you're wanting, the 2" lift, 35s and the offset is +25 so should be good at the fenders for your laws

I would also consider adjustable LCAs instead of the relocation bracket, then you can fine tune your caster since these JLs really need it in the 6 to 7 degree range and would allow you to adjust if you go higher (or lower) down the road.

Nice choice w/ tires, should be a great performer in most all conditions and last a long time, look badass too!

Thank you so much for all this information! I had considered AEV wheels previously but didn't like the look of the ones I was seeing. After seeing the Onyx Borah wheels I think you may have changed my wheel choice! It appears that the Onyx color will match great to the Granite Crystal Metalic color I chose on the new Jeep.

I am thinking that I will stick with 35x12.5 for now and maybe consider 37's next time I need tires. This will let me get a feel for things now and gives me a nice upgrade path down the line. That +25 appears to tuck the tires in perfect for what I am going for.

My plan for the lower control arms is to start out with the bracket to level the arms out and give a bit better ride then add adjustable arms later if needed. Between the price of this new loaded out rubicon and all these accessories I figured it would be a good starting point and if I have castor issues I'll fine tune it with some adjustable arms in a month or two after I recover from the wheel, tire, lift investment I have going now.

Again thanks for the reply it helped out a ton!
