Wrangler sales down 12% Q4 and 14% from previous year. Gladiator sales down 22% and 29% for same... wow. Wonder how many Wrangler sales were scooped by the Bronco? Wonder if the Gladiator is gonna survive [I hope it does - those who have (and kept) them sure seem to like them]. This will be an interesting year as the Recon hits the market... Cheering them on from behind the wheel of my 'old school' 3.6 non-eTorque, manual transmission Wrangler ;-).

Jeep, for all that volume, only has 2 models with an increase in year to year sales and neither are Wrangler ?

So not sure what to make of the "Best selling plug-in hybrid" accomplishment from a financial standpoint. Losses are losses

Wow, overall those are pretty bleak numbers looking ahead. If it were a single event that dinged them that's one thing but as David Letterman used to say "They got more troubles than a monkey on a rock".

It's worrisome that the head of sales seems to be whistling past the graveyard. If you can't recognize you have problems it's already too late to address some of them.

Personally I'm having a real problem acquiring a vehicle of my likening. I have no issue placing a factory order for what I want. Heck it would save me some $$$ but it's playing wack-a-mole to have any confidence I can get the options I want, let alone not having any indication when or if I can actually have it in my driveway within a reasonable time frame.

I wish them the best. I'm still interested in purchasing one of their products but something got to give or they'll soon be dead to me.

YMMV

The sell in PHEV is artificially high. That’s the only thing in on the lot in the states that follow the People Republic of California.

If they’d had all the models available I bet their sells wouldn’t be suffering.

That and the prices. Wranglers now when loaded are luxury vehicles.
I was at the dealership twice last week and according to the service writer there is truth in what you say. While looking at a long row of 4Xe’s (and there are no inexpensive models), instead of the former variety of ICE and a couple 4Xe’s I asked how they were selling. He said their not selling, not much more than the 4Xe’s previously were, except they have no more ICE to sell….. There is not a long row of unsold Broncos across the street— perhaps a factor ? ….. If not

It’s funny how you can paint a rosy picture with numbers. But when you dig into the individual line items Jeep overall sales were up because it was bolstered by grand Cherokee sales but individual models like Wrangler were down big. You might be the number 1 hybrid selling vehicle but your selling less of them year over year

They tell us how many 4xe sold. But real story is how many were traded back in 6 months later like I did
Not to mention also how many of us were waiting months to get our orders so they could have all of these non sold 4XE’s on the lots.

Probably the vast majority of them. When I was in Denver, there were a LOT of Broncos running around. Not quite so many in SC, but still see them now and again.

My original post above was edited by the moderator as being political so here is another attempt, without calling California names:

There was an relatively recent article in the Wall Street Journal that discussed how California passed a law effectively forcing cars manufacturers to sell a certain quota of hybrid/electrical cars to avoid certain fees.

The WSJ noted Stelantis as a specific example that was forced to ship “hybrid” cars (let’s be honest, 4xe is NOT a Prius) to states that follow California‘s emissions laws.

So this is why Wrangler sales are hurting. Manufacturers are forced to follow not consumer demand but … POLITICS.

As a note, California’s laws are not federal law. Congress in their wise decision gave them a specific exemption, that past administration tried to revoke. So when it comes to emissions, she is a republic of its own.

Hopefully this clarifies and won’t win me another “moderation” point for politics . This is as factual as life is.

I bought mine used but had no miles on it. It was two years old. Only had 50 miles on it. Should have seen the warning flags. But wife liked it. Bought extra warranty just in case. It was in the shop for 6 out of the 8 weeks we owned it. No estimate on when it might be fixed. Told my salesman I need out. We have a 23 3.6 very happy

That’s because Ford had other electric brands to sell to avoid penalty fees imposed by the California Clean Air laws, which Colorado follows too.

Stelantis on the other hand decided to “electrify“ Wrangler instead. Jeep’s bread and butter. Why not Fiat???
