As I type this post, what I'm having done to the Jeep is replacement of both front wheel bearings, and replacement of the upstream O2 sensor.

Via a speed-sensitive whine that was plain to hear, the RF bearing was determined to be failing. I decided to have both front bearings replaced for the sake of symmetry and peace of mind. The sensor is being replaced in response to the P1128 CEL code.

I've neither the tools nor the desire to faff about with bearing replacement. As for the O2 sensor, accessing it from the top in my garage was No Joy; it simply wouldn't budge. Thus my bunting to the Service Dept. for the work. I watched as the dealer tech raised my JLU on the lift, which provided better access for his use of a long breaker bar to persuade the sensor to finally rotate.

Since I've received better customer service from our Honda dealer than I have from my selling CDJR dealer, I made the appt. with the former. Understandably, they had to special order the bearings (I provided the O2 sensor that I had already purchased beforehand.) Finally, since the front end was being touched, so to speak, they recommended and I agreed to an alignment check.

Since the bearing delivery required 1 business day, they kept the Jeep overnight and gave me a brand new Passport as a loaner.

I have to say, the gulf between my Sport and the very well-optioned Passport reminded me briefly of how the Other Half lives. ;) The passenger-row windows have retractable shades, FFS...

(Pay no mind to my 27 motorcycle jackets. I'm a fellow who likes options.)

Looks nice! How do you like those wheels? I’m Looking at the double black 305’s and 35’s, with no lift though.
I love them, I did get them 2nd hand though from a member so have only had them for a few weeks. The 0 offset is just right in my opinion and with the 35" KO2 I have no issues on the stock spare tire carrier. I did have to add the Quadratec extended bump stops though since it sits a bit further out than the stock spare.

Trying out some Bronco rubber. I mounted my Cooper STT’s on some steelies for tougher trails.
the load range C Goodyears sure ride nice and they are so quiet.
we’ll see how they do.

Update on the tires.
I have picked up 1 mpg.
They are very comfortable on the road.
They track straight going down the road. when I had the Cooper STT's the Jeep drifted to the right since day one.
I have not yet put them in the dirt so nothing to report on that front.

RETIRED!
Late this afternoon, I caught a ride to the body shop to pick up the Jeep after Corrosion Repairs 2.0 were completed. My body shop guy does an incredible job! The paint on the new hood & door match the rest of the vehicle perfectly.

Thanks! It’s the AEV 2” Spacer lift with Mopar extended LCA’s. Perfect lift for the amount wheeling I do and kept the stock ride quality which was my main goal.

Have you thought about bug & tar remover? Never tried it on that type of surface but it does well with decal adhesive on paint.
@Riotfunk this made me think of the rubber wheel that is used to remove adhesive, too - worth a shot I would think!

Agreed…. I have 315 KO2s on 0 offset and 1.5in Clayton lift is the sweet spot especially for 2dr.

I continue on my journey of wrenching 101 - slowly navigating my way through my lift:
  • Teraflex 2.5in lift springs front and rear
  • 4x4Proyect PreRunner shocks
  • JKS disconnects
  • Nolathane front and rear adjustable trackbars, adjustable front LCAs and rear swaybar links
Didn’t frankenstein the list above myself; it’s how the 4x4Proyect guys do their JLs and they’re good friends of mine. Also, going slow to not mess up anything (or at least not as much) and because I like to only use manual tools.

A few pics of today’s work - still a few days to go:

Slow is smooth, brother.
That’s a good list of components - looking forward to the results.

Hit 20K miles yesterday. Meant to get an image of it but on the drive home I forgot. By time I remembered it was at 20002 lol. Now that I get to WFH, I shouldnt have so many miles on it over the next year. She turns 1 on the 15th LOL.

How many miles did you get out of that wheel bearing and did you hit anything substantial with it?
