Yeah, it is normal. They just made it super tall. I think 5th gear is as tall as the JK was in 6th. I think we can thank CAFE for that. With a tail wind going down hill in 6th, this sucker can compete with a Civic! Lol! On the topic of the 3.6 manual, which I have - I was going to post a thread on thoughts/impressions of it, but since I just saw your post, I'll just jump on it now. I love the manual and the 3.6 - it is indeed fun, and there is no need for me to upgrade the shifter, or anything like that. But having a 700hp Mustang 5.0 for the last 7 years as my other toy, driving it on the highway, I never had to take it out of 6th gear. With my new Sahara, I was shocked that I have to constantly downshift to 4th to really get a good whomp on passing. It renders the cruise control I set, kindda useless, because I have to re-engage.
Your thoughts? Is this normal? I might have to put a Magnuson blower on this baby before long... just like my 5.0. :D
In the flat country here in Indiana, it works ok above 60mph with the 315 KO2s. I always drop 5th to accelerate, though.
Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad I haven't been spoiled by that Mustang. Instead, I drive my 3.8 JK, which makes the JL feel like a powerhouse. You need to pick up an 07-10 JK to help you with this! Lol!
