Hey folks,
About two weeks ago, I was pulling out from an intersection onto a wet road. The tires spun and my RPMs shot up higher than I've hit before - I don't recall the exact reading - and the engine started making this loud, clicking noise. I pulled over, checked under the hood but couldn't find anything obvious, so I drove it home slowly to the garage across the street from my home (not a CDJR Service Center). The mechanic pulled out the dipstick and... bone dry. I left it there for a quick diagnosis and they said there was less than a quart of oil in the engine, but they didn't want to do anything because it's still under warranty. They state no signs of any leak.
I've been having this Jeep serviced by the same dealer I bought it from brand-new. It has just under 37,000 miles on it. It was due for a change, though the dash reading they reset on each change was showing 25% life left. I'm not too far past the "Next Service Date" or mileage (<1k miles). The mechanics at the garage claim they've seen cars from dealers in my area where they claim to be changing the oil, but never actually do anything. I've also spoken to several others who say there's no reason a car should be that low on oil, given what I've described, unless there's a leak. They're speculating that the engine issue itself might be the pusher.
Unfortunately, the folks at the garage where I took it ended up doing a full oil change. I almost wish they hadn't, but I didn't realize they were going to do it to say otherwise. I had it towed to a different CDJR which is closer to my home, where it's been for two weeks. I had an appointment for them to look at it today, but now that's been pushed to tomorrow. I suspect that doesn't say anything good about when it'll be on the road again if they're that slammed to even make a diagnosis. They won't offer a rental or loaner until they can diagnose and confirm the issue is covered under the warranty.
I have a few questions:

I have a few questions:
- What are your thoughts on the amount of oil? Is there any legitimacy to what folks are saying: the dealership might have been negligent here? I've never noticed any oil under the car after driving at any point in time.
- I'm concerned about warranty. It's really hard to say what the engine issue itself could be, but does anyone know if certain engine issues aren't covered? I know this is in some kind of warranty, based on what the folks at the new dealer told me.
- If it's not covered by warranty, do I have any means for proving the dealer wasn't doing a proper oil change, and thus, getting Jeep to cover the costs? I have all service records, and assuming what I've been told about how insane the oil consumption would be to get me to where I was without a leak, a reasonable person could conclude I'm not at fault here.
