I agree with you....not a fan of red interior. Those seats look terrible and hoping you have the option to change the color. Thanks for your post....The 392 on the pics is Anvil?

Some nice updates in the refresh, but that new grill is absolutely atrocious in my opinion. The slots are far too short compared to the the 2018-2023 JL appearance. Almost has a Renegade look to it.
Perhaps its just the camera angle in this picture, but the change also makes the bumper and plastic skid plate look like a bruised bottom lip, accounting for over 50% of the front surface area.

The increased tow rating is a welcomed improvement, along with the wireless Android Auto & CarPlay. The rest are fairly minor IMO, but everyone will have their own take.

I'll be interested to see where pricing falls with all of these changes. The way the car market is, it seems manufactures feel the sky is the limit on pricing.

This is probably the only vehicle that starts at ~36k and pushes close to 100k fully equipped.

I was at the NY auto show dealer day yesterday and spent about 20 min checking out the 392. Everything below is coming from a perspective of a '23 392 owner.

The red seats are disgusting. I'm not a fan of red interiors to begin with, but Jeeps's interior is this cheap shade of red - it's more towards pink than towards orange. Between that and the fact that seats are the ONLY red part of the otherwise black interior (tiny red accents on the sides of dashboard don't count), it looks like ass. I think it's also possible to get red contrast stitching for the steering wheel and dashboard panel, which will create at least a little contrast with black. Some article I saw online said that 392's will only come with red seats. I really hope that Jeep is not that stupid.

The screen looks better than it does in pictures when you are sitting behind the wheel. It still looks like a cheap tablet glued to the dashboard, but at least it's very close to the dashboard, unlike some other cars where it's like an inch away. Another thing that bothered me is that the screen is asymmetric - the left side is different from the right side. Hate that. I could not play with the screen itself because it was frozen (good preview of things to come I guess :)) but resolution looked high. Those vents look mismatched with outer vents, but at the same time the presence of the screen above makes the vents barely noticeable. When I first read about the new screen, I was thinking they will do a nice decent size vertical screen (similar to RAM), but NOPE....they had to do this weird configuration. Maybe Best Buy had a clearance sale.

The 35" tires make the Jeep really uncomfortable to get into and out of. Again, some article said that 35's are now the only choice. If so, another moronic decision by Jeep. Not every 392 buyer wants or needs 35's and I am pretty sure most of them will never be taken off-road beyond some "green" trails.

LOVE the Anvil color. Gorgeous!!! Not sure if I would have chosen it over my Sting gray, but it does look amazing.

New grille is OK. I am OK with both the new and old looks. Each has pluses and minuses. The new one makes the Jeep look a little more "finished". As a trade-off, no more flat black grille.

POWER SEATS!!!!! Now, this is a game changer (for me). YES, you can finally adjust the rake of the seat properly! Yes, I know manual seats have that pathetic crank, but now you can adjust it better and the seat position feels more comfortable. I do not think there is seat memory though (I am not 100% sure, but I do not recall seeing a memory button anywhere). If there is no memory, the power seat feature is 50% useless.

Another nice touch is that the bottom portion of the dash is now a continuous line / single piece (instead of a few pieces of mismatched Rubbermaid-quality plastic) and it's the same material as the upper portion of the dashboard. It may be even some really shitty quality leather or some really nice quality soft plastic....It was hard to tell. It definitely looks much better than the current design...and it has nice stitching, which is the least people will expect on a vehicle that starts around $90K.

The new dash fascia material looks very nice and plays well with the rest of the dashboard. Definitely looks better than the shiny black plastic on the previous model.

All other interior materials looked and felt the same to me. If this is the "upgraded interior spec" or whatever was rumored to be coming out, it's pretty weak.

I am no winch expert, but the winch wiring looked a bit sloppy to me and was very exposed. I am sure they thought of everything, but I just spent 3 hours washing mud out of a million different body cavities in my Jeep a week ago and the bumper in particular was full of it. I can't see that winch wiring lasting very long in non-desert climates.

Wheels - I definitely like the new wheels more. Looks like Jeep finally discovered machined-face design that entire car industry has been shipping for the past decade or so. And then they say some things never change :)

The exhaust on the 392 at the show was black (or looked black). Good decision by Jeep. Naked stainless steel is not the best look for the 392. Black exhaust tips play well with the black bumper.
nice the powered seats is what I really want will have to see where everything lands when Jeep fimanly announces everything.

Grille change - I’m actually fine with this modification. The one issue I don’t like about the current grill, is when you mount a winch (at least my WarnVR10) the wiring coming out of the solinoid is practically shoved underneath the bottom of the grill. I’ve got PPF, so not a huge concern, but if it was wiring on painted metal, I’d be a little peeved. Also, after you remove the spacer piece, to allow the winch to sit, you’ve got bare frame exposed that just doesn’t look right. I may fab something up here.

Power seats - I think this is a luxury I’d rather not have. Adjustability is great, but electric just to be electric is pushing this rig “capability” toward Land Rover, not Toyota. In the last year, the only time I’ve adjusted my seat is to pull it forward or back to vacuum underneath the seat. Like Ron Popeel, I set it, and forget it.

Red Seats-No thanks. I would much rather they go brown, or baseball leather, or something sexy. Only a few colors wouldit look good on, and many, it looks BAD on, and the stitching disappears. They could have done gold, or even two tone “old school Sahara” type seats. Flashy red looks like it was pulled out of a challenger. Not my cup of tea. I love the 392 because it’s bad ass without having to scream about it. Those that know, or that hear it rumble, know.

Screen/Uconnect5-I really like the ability to do wireless car-play, and the display and resolution look much improved. I wonder if that back up camera level of detail is any better? The ability to have a usable in console USB plug that doesn’t conflict or cause havoc makes lot of sense. I don’t like the screen placement, wish it was flush with the dash. First time I can think of having a device “hanging” out of the dash. Also assume the first time it’s caught topless and rains, water is going behind the radio.
Wheels- love the new wheels for the 392. I like to keep factory wheels on my rig, and upgrade tires. The new ones look pretty durn stylish in my opinion.

Winch - love that you can get an integrated winch from the factory. They have dealt with the “liability” argument for years selling the dodge power wagon.
Antenna in the windshield - booooo. One of the most damage prone upright windshields in the country, and they want to make it more expensive. I’m fine with a standard whip, or even a mini.

Dash - I dig the new cluster layout and dash assembly, minus the radio placement. Looks progressive, and integrating technology without going full digital.

Axle upgrade?- questionable if this makes it to the 392 as it may stress the axle tube itself too much going to a full float and 392 power, especially in off-road situations.

My hope was it would get a larger AAM axle/housing/assembly upgrade, but maybe that’s a 2028 possibility to substantiate the price point and capability of the 392. Great upgrade for wheelers and people frustrated with low tow ratings. Makes them more competitive in the marketplace. Would love to be able to tow more in the 392.

Plastic interior - this is a transitioning option, I guess that you can get at the jeeps parts counter. Can be buildable going forward. I really like this option, but find it laughable that it’s a premium to purchase it. It should be a credit to take plastic flooring, in my opinion. Like someone charging for a manual trans.

Overall, I think they are steps forward in options for the jeep. Pricing doesn’t matter, those that want it will buy it. I’m excited about it, but am still pretty happy with my 2021.

So I have a 392 order that will be arriving in the next few weeks (maybe), so I grapple with this every day. My talking points are:

1. We don’t know what this costs yet, but I DO know that no matter the cost, I’m already $6k down because of:
A. My trade will reduce probably $2k in value after another 6 mo
B. I probably lose the $500 Tread Lightly voucher that probably can’t be used on early ‘24s
C. I would lose $1,050 in deposits
D. My order has already increased $2,250 from time of order (Oct)

2. I’m VERY turned off that the 392 is going away from the bronze highlights and adopting the red of the Rubicon…..the only exterior color I like currently is Hydro Blue, and having a red interior with that is moronic

3. New Renegade grill - enough said

4. Would like all the other upgrades, but at what cost? The 20A was already a $7,000 increase and it had less stuff. I’m unfortunately getting about 60% of this 392 for free (inheritance :( ) but there still has to be a limit and I’m looking at $13,000+ more if they price it like a 20A

the purpose of power seats (imo) is defeated if there is no memory setting but thats just me.

I’ve been wanting a red interior for my 392 since I saw the original teaser in 2020. Still trying to confirm if Katzkin will do bronze stitching and the 392 Rubicon logo in the seat (they do not seem to respond to inquiries). Might wait for the OEM parts to be available through Mopar.
Katzkin will do that. I got samples last year but I forgot what the bronze was called. It looks more orange in their online tool. They also can embroider the same rubicon 392 as OEM. I’ve used them previously and they’ve always been responsive.
@Katzkin

You can also look at seat covers from PRP. They can embroider (deboss?) but their rubicon font is slightly off. I’m looking at them to maybe get cushier seats.

I was on vacation and just checked those new features on the 24 MY. Nothing really interests me.

- I can’t live with red seats, no matter its Jeep or any other cars.
- The new wheels just don’t look that cool to my liking. And a bit to sleek on this off-road rig.
- I especially am disappointed by the new dash screen and vents. The older version is just so balanced.
- I don’t tow so the HD full float axle doesn’t interest me.
- The delete of antenna is a No to me.
- I don’t hate the new grill, but I’d imagine more dead bugs getting into the radiator.

With the only truly regrettable upgrade you don’t get being the axle/tow rating . $13K has that covered should yours grenade and you upgrade.

Very interesting, just watched a video and it shows the exhaust tips and muffler are painted black.
