I’ve got the Mopar Rock Sliders with Step Assist from the factory on my Rubi XR. As soon as I saw them I knew they were coming off.

They seem like they will be wonderful as rock sliders but they are awful for steps On a lifted Jeep. That said the nonskid surface is great to stand on and access the roof.

They are coming off in a few weeks and going on a family members new Jeep. I’m having the Rock Slide Engineering retractable steps installed instead (like in yawniespapa‘s post). They’ll give my Jeep the protection it needs and me an appropriate step up into the Jeep.

I bought 6" Nerf Bars Side Steps and I am happy with them. I think they look a lot like OEM, but were $139.00. I really did not need the steps to get into the Jeep, but I want to keep people in cars from banging their doors against the side of my Jeep. Now they will hit the side step and not the door. Now a taller vehicle might still be a problem, but cars won't...

I was looking for a pair of Sahara steps for my some-day-to-come Willys XE. Thanks for the tip. I sent them a message on the 5th, which they answered within hours. I ordered a set on the 6th and they were delivered on the 7th - the warehouse they used (Kent, WA) is about 30 miles from me, so that was surprising.
Do you find the color of the steps to be similar to the other trim on your Jeep?

My Rubicon is Purple, I was fine with black steps. My top and fender flares are also purple. I am really happy with them, and the mud flaps which I got at the same time. No drilling for the mud flaps and they fit perfect with the steps...

I went with Rugged Ridge after I F’d up my rockers. It was cheaper than bodywork and they can take a hit for sure.

Will be putting a set of these on my Gladiator soon as well. It sits as high as my wife's Wrangler Rubicon since I put the lift under it.

Door closed, steps up, these should take a fair beating.

LOL - that purple sure looks different in the dark with my phone/camera. Showing the step lights....

How do you like these so far? Can the settings be changed where the step doesn’t come down automatically when a door is opened?
have you used just the main “running board” as your step?

I also have the Rockslide Engineering steps on my JLUR, they come with a switch that lets you turn them off so the steps don't deploy. I also installed the optional skid plates and they can take a beating, I've had the full weight on one side of my jeep resting on them and they slid right along without bending.

I also have the Rockslide Engineering Steps on my Rubicon XR. My husband and I absolutely love them! We go off-roading so we didn’t want anything that would hang down low and get in the way or get hung up on any obstacles like many other steps would have.
Yes, you can turn the switch off so the lower step doesn’t come down if you don’t want it to. We haven’t purchased the extra armor for ours yet but plan to before summertime. We did get the lights though but I don’t have any photos of them on.
My husband has aging parents and these will definitely come in handy for them. Plus I have bad shoulders so it definitely helps me as well.

Rockhard 4x4 Good step, excellent slider. Solid top keeps rock chips to minimum

Good to know… I’m in FL so no major rock climbing, just trails and beach. I wonder how these do with water submersion, bc we do like to cross water

Looking to add some steps to help aging family get in and out of the Jeep. Would prefer something that would work with the factory Rubi rails but open to all suggestions. I don’t want anything super wide or bulky as I prefer the look of my Jeep without side steps.
Thanks in advance!
DIY side steps. Took me about 3 hrs.to make these from factory rubicon rails.

You could probably find a fab shop local to you.

I have the Westin triple tube step/rock slider units as well. Great product and now my vertically challenged wife can access the JL without a boost from me. ;)

I know they’re boring and they’re chrome but they’re mine.
