First, I know. Not another hood alarm thread. I just want to make sure I’m enabling the right options to get this working. I have a 2019 JLUR manual trans (not sure if this matters here). I turned the Hood Ajar Monitoring to active, this had no effect. I noticed that VTA System Present is currently blank. Do I need to set this to VTA?

@jarvis

Unfortunately, this is supposedly doable with JSCAN, but like a few other things claimed doable by JSCAN, you will find this is a no go with JSCAN.

I set mine to VTA and the alarm goes off, you can’t turn the alarm off with the key fob though. You just unlock the door.

@Bulldog4xFour

Depending on your JL or JT's configuration you will see different behaviors or the feature just won't work.. It's a real crap shoot.. Most find it unusable.. then some guy's like you find it usable with your particular JL.

Curious... do you have factory remote start?

I have remote start, and keyless entry. Not sure if that is what makes the difference.

Base on what I have read over the last few months, your result with that JSCAN feature is/was possible thanks to your JL's remote start.

Thanks for the input. I’ll set it to VTA and report back. Obviously with an MT I don’t have remote start, so I’m not all that hopeful.

I'll add that I was able to put this feature on too - also have remote start (Sport S Unlimited).

Thanks for the feedback, when I was reading the settings in the screenshot above, it was without the bypass cable connected, when I connected the bypass cable the VTA System screen was properly set to VTA and still no alarm. Ah well, guess I'll need to look into hood lock.

Could be the manual transmission models somehow does not allow this setting. I have the manual transmission and a Tazer and have never been able to get this to work.

could be. I’ve read that the Tazer needs to remain connected to work. Is that your setup?

Yes. I've had it plugged in since I bought the Jeep in 2019 except when the dealer needed to do an update. I've contacted the vendor but they said they don't have a manual Jeep to do any testing.

Just an update to all of this, I worked with JScan support through FB Messenger (props here) - they walked me through viewing the live data through the app, when I opened the hood, the hood ajar value wasn't changing. When I manually pulled up the sensor pins it changed. I (lightly) greased the pins, moved them manually, locked the jeep and now the alarm went off when I opened the hood.
